Hans Tavsens Gade
Hans Tavsens Gade is a street which follows the southwest side of Hans Tavsens Park, formerly part of Assistens Cemetery, in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The street links Kapelvej in the southeast with Hans Egedes Gade, just south of Jagtvej, in the northwest. The central portion of the street has been closed to car traffic and has a loosely defined boundary with the park. Nørrebro Runddel Station
Nørrebro (, ) is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is northwest of the city centre, beyond the location of the old Northern Gate (''Nørreport''), which, until dismantled in 1856, was near the current Nørreport station. Geography Nørrebro has an area of and a population of 71,891. It is bordered by Indre By to the southeast, Østerbro to the northeast, Bispebjerg to the northwest and Frederiksberg Municipality to the southwest. Neoclassical Architecture
Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style produced by the Neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century in Italy and France. It became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world. Ludvig Fenger
Ludvig Peter Fenger (7 July 1833 – 9 March 1905) was a Danish architect. He was a proponent of the Historicist style, and from 1886 to 1904 he held the title of City Architect in Copenhagen. Among his works are several churches, the Central Fire Station and Vestre Prison in Copenhagen. He also directed the renovations of Church of Holmen and Christian IV's Stock Exchange. Early life and education Ludvig Fenger was born on 7 July 1833 in the village of Slots Bjergby outside Slagelse as the son of the local pastor. After graduating from Slagelse Latin School he attended the Royal Danish Academy while also working for architects such as Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll, Christian Hansen and Ferdinand Meldahl. He received the Academy's Large Gold Medal in 1866 and went on several journeys abroad from 1867 to 1869. Holy Cross Church, Copenhagen
The Holy Cross Church (Danish: Hellig Kors Kirke) is a Church of Denmark parish church located at the corner of Kapelvej (No. 38) and Hans Tavsens Gade in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The church was built in 1887–1890 to a National Romantic design by Hermann Baagøe Storck. History In 1886, Københavns Præstekonvent decided to build a new church in the Rantzausgade/ Kapelvej neighbourhood of Nørrebro. Further work with realizing the project was placed in the hands of a commission headed by provost Conrad Rothe and mayor Hans Hansen. The city donated a corner of the old cholera cemetery adjacent to Assistens Cemetery for the project. Funding for construction of the church building came partly from the city and partly from fund-raising among private citizens.
