Hans Nielsen (American Football)
Hans Jorgen Nielsen (born November 18, 1952) is a former American football kicker who played for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Michigan State University. College career Nielsen played college football at Michigan State from 1976–1977. In his collegiate career, he made 54-of-57 extra point attempts and 28-of-50 field goal attempts. Professional career Nielsen's only season that he played was with the Chicago Bears in 1981. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster.
