Hans Klering
Hans Klering (8 November 1906 – 30 October 1988) was a German actor, director, voice actor, graphic designer and author. He joined the Communist Party and went into exile in the Soviet Union in 1931, returning to Germany in 1945. In 1946, he became a co-founder of DEFA, the East German state-owned film studio, as well as one of its directors and board members. Biographical details Born Hans Karl Scharnagl in Berlin, he apprenticed himself from 1921 to 1924, but at the end, was unemployed. Later, he worked on the docks and as a sign painter. In 1926, he joined the Communist Party of Germany. He was a member of several agitprop theater groups in Cologne and Berlin, including the ''Rote Raketen'' (Red Rocket), ''Blaue Blusen'' (Blue Blouse), and the Left Column. As the political situation in Germany worsened, Klering fled to Moscow in 1931, where he continued to work with the Left Column. The German Federal Archives or Bundesarchiv (BArch) (german: Bundesarchiv) are the National Archives of Germany. They were established at the current location in Koblenz in 1952. Plot summary In a small town in a remote part of the Russian Empire, factory workers struggle to organize against the owners. ''The Heathens of Kummerow'' (german: Die Heiden von Kummerow und ihre lustigen Streiche, lit=The Heathens of Kummerow and Their Funny Pranks) is a 1967 East German-West German family comedy film directed by Werner Jacobs and starring Paul Dahlke, Ralf Wolter and Fritz Tillmann. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, written by Ehm Welk and published in 1937. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Senta Ochs and Alfred Tolle. Location shooting took place around Rügen. Plot It is the era before World War I and short before Easter in the village of Kummerow in Pomerania, and a group of boys revive a custom of "heathen baptism". ''Hands Up or I'll Shoot'' () is an East German crime comedy film directed by Hans-Joachim Kasprzik, who wrote the script along with Rudi Strahl. Rolf Herricht starred as officer Holms. The picture was filmed in 1965, but in 1966 censors refused to allow it to be screened, and therefore post-production ceased. ''Hands Up or I'll Shoot'' was only completed and distributed in 2009, making it the last East German film to be released. Plot Lieutenant Holms, a People's Police detective, has always dreamed of solving complicated crimes. ''Reserved for the Death'' (german: Reserviert für den Tod) is an East German film. It was released in 1963. Plot Former East German engineer Erich Becker had been lured to West Germany by promises of a high reward. Now residing in Stockholm, he is recalled to serve as a spy in the East. He is to convince Dr. Jadenburg to flee from the GDR with the help of his daughter Hanna, who works for the West. While travelling on the train with Hanna, he is told that he is also to murder another agent who betrayed and now works for the Stasi. The traitor is revealed to be a former friend of Becker, Harry Korb. Becker cannot bring himself to kill Korb when they meet. Korb tells him that it was all a test to prove if he is reliable; since Becker failed, Korb murders him. The Stasi agents capture Korb soon after. Plot The farm of the Kahlow family is struck by disaster: although it mated with neighbor Grossig's white swine, their white sow delivered black piglets, a sinister omen. The old Grandmother Kahlow interprets this as a sign from heaven not to join the nearby Agricultural Cooperative, although her grandson Claus - who wants to marry Grossig's daughter, Irma - wishes them to do so. Grossig supports her, and declares the piglets to be "unchristian", although the village priest resents that. But then, Father Melcior is also afflicted by the phenomenon: his sow, Cleopatra, delivers black piglets.
