Hans Kiær
Hans Andersen Kiær (1795–1867) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician. He was a part of a large ship-owner family, starting with his father Anders Hansen Kiær (1769–1838). He was the brother of Niels Andersen Kiær, and through him the uncle of physician and historian Frantz Casper Kiær and director of Statistics Norway, Anders Nicolai Kiær. Himself, Hans Andersen Kiær fathered the businessmen Anders, Hans Theodor and Oluf Emil Kiær, as well as the priest Hagbarth Kiær. Anders F. Kiær founded the company And. H. Kiær & Co. Through Hans Theodor, Hans Andersen Kiær was the grandfather of Elias C. Kiær and great-grandfather of Hans Theodor Kiær, both of whom carried the directorship of And. H. Kiær & Co. Statistics Norway ( no, Statistisk sentralbyrå, abbreviated to ''SSB'') is the Norwegian statistics bureau. It was established in 1876. Relying on a staff of about 1,000, Statistics Norway publish about 1,000 new statistical releases every year on its web site. All releases are published both in Norwegian and English. Anders Nicolai Kiær
Anders Nicolai Kiær ( Drammen, 15 September 1838 – Oslo, 16 April 1919) was a Norwegian statistician who first proposed that a representative sample rather than a complete enumerating survey could and should be used to collect information about a population. He was born in Drammen as the son of ship-owner Niels Andersen Kiær (1802–1887), and brother of physician and historian Frantz Casper Kiær. He graduated as cand.jur. in 1860, and was hired as head of the statistics department in the Ministry of the Interior in 1868. In 1877 he was appointed director of the newly appointed office Statistics Norway, staying in this position until 1913. Before 1882 he functioned as a co-director together with Jakob Mohn. Johan Aschehoug Kiær
Johan Aschehoug Kiær (October 11, 1869 – October 31, 1931) was a Norwegian paleontologist and geologist. Biography Johan Kiær was born in Drammen, Norway. He was the son of parish priest Hagbarth Kiær (1829–1903) and grandson of shipowner and Member of Parliament Hans Andersen Kiær (1795–1867). He was a nephew of Elias C. Kiær (1863–1939) operator of the family company And. H. Kiær & Co. which had been founded by his great-grandfather, Anders Hansen Kiær (1769–1838). Kiær studied zoology and then paleontology for three years under Professor Karl Alfred von Zittel (1839–1904) at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich where in 1896 he received his doctorate. In 1909 he was appointed professor of paleontology at the University of Oslo, as the first in Norway to hold such a position. Thorvald "Thorry" Meyer Kiær (6 January 1888 – 29 June 1968) was a Norwegian industrialist. He was born in Aker to barrister Georg Fredrik Egidius Kiær and Julie Caroline Helene Løvenskiold. He was a brother of Dakky Kiær, and great-grandson of Otto Joachim Løvenskiold and Thorvald Meyer. In 1914 he married Ingrid Thaulow, a daughter of painter Frits Thaulow. Dagny Caroline "Dakky" Kiær (19 August 1892 – 21 July 1980) was a Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party, feminist and civic leader. She was born in Aker as a daughter of barrister and former mayor of Aker, Georg Fredrik Egidius Kiær and Julie Caroline Helene Løvenskiold. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". Drammen
Drammen () is a city and municipality in Viken (county), Viken, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Drammen municipality also includes smaller towns and villages such as Konnerud, Svelvik, Mjøndalen and Skoger.
