Hans Karl Burgeff
Hans Karl Burgeff (20 April 1928 – 25 November 2005) was a German sculptor, medal engraver and art lecturer, who worked mostly in the Rhineland. Life Burgeff was born in Würzburg, the son of Hans Burgeff, university professor of botany. He first studied "General Science" (german: Allgemeine Naturwissenschaften) at the University of Würzburg, but afterwards studied the history of art in Stuttgart and in Tübingen. In 1951 he transferred to the Kölner Werkschulen, where he studied sculpture and modelling with Prof. Ludwig Gies and was nominated "master student" (''Meisterschüler'') in 1956. Independent from 1957, Burgeff quickly became known for his predominantly religious works, such as church portals, altar tables, crucifixes and statues of saints. An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everyday speech and academic discourse refers to a practitioner in the visual arts only. Berlin State Museums
The Berlin State Museums (german: Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) are a group of institutions in Berlin, Germany, comprising seventeen museums in five clusters, several research institutes, libraries, and supporting facilities. They are overseen by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and funded by the German federal government in collaboration with Germany's federal states. The central complex on Museum Island was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1999. By 2007, the Berlin State Museums had grown into the largest complex of museums in Europe. The museum was originally founded by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia in 1823 as the Königliche Museen (in English, Royal Museums). Ulrich Görtz
Ulrich Görtz (1973) is a German mathematician specialising in arithmetic geometry. Education and career From 1993 to 1997, Görtz studied mathematics at the University of Münster. He completed his PhD at the University of Cologne in 2000; his advisor was Michael Rapoport. In 2006, Görtz habilitated at the University of Bonn. From 2008 to 2009 he was the recipient of a Heisenberg-Stipendium of the German Research Foundation (DFG). He received the Von-Kaven-Ehrenpreis of the DFG. Eifel
The Eifel (; lb, Äifel, ) is a low mountain range in western Germany and eastern Belgium. It occupies parts of southwestern North Rhine-Westphalia, northwestern Rhineland-Palatinate and the southern area of the German-speaking Community of Belgium.
