Hans H. Driessnack
Hans Helmuth Driessnack (August 11, 1927 – October 16, 2006) was a lieutenant general in the United States Air Force, in which he served as a fighter pilot and later, Comptroller of the Air Force. Early life and education Driessnack was born in Yonkers, New York in 1927, and graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School in 1945. In 1951, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Syracuse University, where he was enrolled in the AFROTC. He was also a member of the Syracuse Orange men's crew from 1947 to 1950. In 1959, he received a master's degree in business administration from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), originally called the Distinguished Unit Citation, is awarded to units of the uniformed services of the United States, and those of allied countries, for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy on or after 7 December 1941 (the date of the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the start of American involvement in World War II). Gorton High School (GHS or G-High) is a public high school for grades 9–12, in Yonkers, New York, operated by the Yonkers Public Schools. History The school was erected on its present site in 1923. It is Yonkers' oldest high school campus. Eighty-six classes have graduated from the Shonnard Place campus.
