Hans Aas
Hans Aas (22 September 1880 – 5 August 1960) was a Norwegian trade unionist. Aas was born in Tromsø. He joined his first trade union in 1906, and chaired the union from 1914 to 1930. Having broken away from the Labour Party and joined the Communist Party in 1923, Aas later worked as a manager in the newspaper ''Arbeidet''. He was a member of the secretariat of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions from 1920 to 1923, then a deputy who met regularly in the place of Ole O. Lian, then a secretariat member again from 1927 to 1929. He formed a Communist minority in the secretariat together with Elias Volan, but they were replaced in 1929. In politics, Aas was a member of Aker municipal council and chairman of Grorud Grorud is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. Grorud
Grorud is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. The borough contains the Ammerud, Grorud, Kalbakken, Rødtvet, Nordtvet and Romsås areas. To the north of the borough is the forest of Lillomarka. The borough is the smallest in Oslo, with fewer than 30 000 inhabitants. The area now known as Grorud was mostly farm land until after World War II, an exception being Grorud proper, where mining was an important livelihood. Granite from Grorud is seen in many buildings in downtown Oslo - with the lion sculptures in front of Stortinget, the Norwegian Parliament being the most famous example. Textile industries were also a part of the urbanization of Grorud, with the river Alna and its waterfalls as power supply. The railway station at Grorud, from 1854, is one of the oldest in Norway and was a hub of the whole Grorud Valley for many years until the arrival of urbanization and the subway. Aker, Norway
Aker was a former independent municipality in Akershus, Norway, that constitutes the vast majority of the territory of the modern city of Oslo. The name originally belonged to a farm which was located near the current Old Aker Church. The church in turn became the source of the name of the parish and later municipality as well as Akershus Fortress, the main fief and main county of Akershus which included most of Eastern Norway until 1919, the smaller county of Akershus, and numerous institutions within this area. Aker municipality was in terms of population by far the largest municipality of Akershus county and surrounded the capital city of Christiania (renamed Oslo in 1925) until 1948; Aker was 27 times larger than the capital it surrounded.
