Hans-Stille-Medaille
The Hans Stille Medal was a scientific award of the ''Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geowissenschaften'' (German Society for Geosciences), given to an individual who made outstanding contributions in the fields of geology and earth sciences. The award was named after German tectonicist Hans Stille and suspended in 2016. Otto Erdmannsdörffer
Otto Heinrich Erdmannsdörffer (11 March 1876, Heidelberg – 19 April 1955, Heidelberg) was a German mineralogist and petrographer, known for his analysis of rocks and minerals found in the Odenwald, the Black Forest and the Harz, Harz Mountains. He was the son of historian Bernhard Erdmannsdörffer. He studied natural sciences at the universities of University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg and University of Strasbourg, Strasbourg, receiving his doctorate in 1900. For the next twelve years he worked as a research assistant at the Prussian Geological Survey, and in the meantime, obtained his habilitation in mineralogy and petrology from the University of Berlin (1908). Hans Stille
Hans Wilhelm Stille (8 October 1876 – 26 December 1966) was an influential German geologist working primarily on tectonics and the collation of tectonic events during the Phanerozoic. Stille adhered to the contracting Earth hypothesis and together with Leopold Kober he worked on the geosyncline theory to explain orogeny. Max Richter (Geologe)
Max Richter (; ; born 22 March 1966) is a German-born British composer and pianist. He works within postminimalist and contemporary classical styles. Richter is classically trained, having graduated in composition from the University of Edinburgh, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and studied with Luciano Berio in Italy. Richter arranges, performs, and composes music for stage, opera, ballet and screen. He has collaborated with other musicians, as well as with performance, installation and media artists. He has recorded eight solo albums, and his music is widely used in cinema, such as the score of Ari Folman's animated war film ''Waltz with Bashir'' (2008). Carl Wilhelm Correns
Carl Wilhelm Correns (19 May 1893 – 29 August 1980) was a German geologist who pioneered the field of sedimentary petrology. He was noted as an influential teacher and for his textbook ''Einführung in die Mineralogie'' (1949). Correns received the Roebling Medal of the Geological Society of America in 1976. Correns was born in Tübingen to botanists Carl Erich Correns and Elisabeth Widmer. He went to the universities of Tübingen and Münster with an interruption during World War I. After serving as a reserve officer, he returned to complete his PhD at the University of Berlin in 1920. His thesis supervised by J.F. Pompecki was on petrography and paleontology of Devonian limestone. He was inspired by the book ''Lehrbuch der Mineralogie'' by Paul Niggli that he came across in Christmas of 1920 and attended seminars by Arrien Johnsen at Berlin.
