Hannes Smolders (born 24 February 1998) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a centre back for Dessel Sport. Club career Hannes Smolders started his career with KV Mechelen. Smolders re-joined Lierse on 1 January 2019 on a loan deal, that was confirmed already on 7 December 2018. Lier (; french: Lierre, ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. The city centre is surrounded by the river ''Nete'', around which it grew. In 2018, Lier had a total population of 35,712. The total area is 49.70 km making a population density (PD) of 720 per km. Koninklijke Lierse Sportkring (), often simply known as Lierse, was a Belgian professional football club from the city of Lier in the Antwerp province. Lierse have won four championship titles and two Belgian Cups. Lierse Kempenzonen is a Belgian association football club located in Lier, in the province of Antwerp. The club, founded in 1943 as Oosterzonen in Oosterwijk, was relocated to Lier following the bankruptcy of Lierse in 2018. They compete in the Belgian First Division B, the second tier of Belgian football. History The club was founded in 1943 as FC Oosterzonen from a commune within Westerlo and started in the Belgian provincial leagues where it hovered between the various levels, most of the times playing at the 6th or 7th level of the Belgian football pyramid.
