Hanner Fieldhouse is a 4,325-seat multi-purpose arena in Statesboro in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was built in 1969 and is home to the Georgia Southern University men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. It hosted the 1985 and 1992 Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball tournaments. In addition to athletic events, Hanner Fieldhouse also is home to the university's fall commencement ceremonies and featured an election rally by then-president George W. Bush in 2006. In 2007, the university held three separate ceremonies at the facility to accommodate the university's growing number of graduates. The older Hanner Gymnasium, which is part of the newer complex, hosted a Rolling Stones concert on May 4, 1965. Reidsville, Georgia
Reidsville is a city in, and county seat of, Tattnall County, Georgia. The population was 4,944 at the 2010 census. The Georgia State Prison is near Reidsville. History Reidsville was founded in about 1828 and was designated county seat of Tattnall County in 1832 by the Georgia General Assembly. It was incorporated as a town in 1838 and as a city in 1905. The city was named after Robert R. Reid, territorial governor of Florida. Reidsville is home to the Nelson Hotel Bed & Breakfast. During the events of World War II, Reidsville was the home to at least one, though some reports suggest two, prisoner of war camps for captured Nazi personnel. The prison camp's location has largely been lost to time, but is believed to have stood near the current location of a gas station/self-storage company, near the fringes of the city. Jack S. Hill (July 15, 1944 – April 6, 2020) was an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, he represented Georgia's 4th District in the Georgia State Senate. At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving Georgia State Senator. Personal Jack Hill was born in Reidsville, Georgia. He was a retired grocer and his wife, Ruth Ann, was an elementary school principal. Together, they had three children and seven grandchildren. Hill was a graduate of Reidsville High School and Georgia Southern University. He served in the Georgia Air National Guard for 33 years, both as a unit commander and State Inspector General. Hill died on April 6, 2020. His wife, Ruth Ann Nail Hill, died less than three weeks later on April 24, 2020. The ASUN Conference, formerly the Atlantic Sun Conference, is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. The league participates at the NCAA Division I level, and began sponsoring football at the Division I FCS level in 2022. Georgia Southern Eagles Women's Volleyball
The Georgia Southern Eagles volleyball program was established in 1985. The team is currently led by head coach Chad Callihan. The Eagles compete in the Sun Belt Conference. Georgia Southern University does not have a men's team. Program history Beginning in 1985, the Georgia Southern Volleyball program has been guided by a total of eight coaches. In years 2001, and 2003 the team was named Southern Conference Tournament Champions. This accomplishment took the team to the NCAA Tournament where they competed to earn a championship title. As of 2009 the overall record of the program was 353 wins, followed by 430 losses. Coming into the 2010 season, the team lost a total of 5 players: two freshmen, one junior, and one graduated senior.
