Hanger Hill Historic District
The Hanger Hill Historic District encompasses a collection of early 20th-century residential properties on the 1500 block of Welch Street (between 15th and 16th Streets) in Little Rock, Arkansas. Included are nine historic houses and one carriage barn, the latter a remnant of a property whose main house was destroyed by fire in 1984. The houses are all either Colonial Revival or Queen Anne Victorian, or share some stylistic elements of both architectural styles, and were built between 1906 and 1912. Six of the houses are distinctive in their execution of these styles using rusticated concrete blocks. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. Arkansas
Arkansas ( ) is a landlocked state in the South Central United States. It is bordered by Missouri to the north, Tennessee and Mississippi to the east, Louisiana to the south, and Texas and Oklahoma to the west. Its name is from the Osage language, a Dhegiha Siouan language, and referred to their relatives, the Quapaw people. The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance or "great artistic value". A property listed in the National Register, or located within a National Register Historic District, may qualify for tax incentives derived from the total value of expenses incurred in preserving the property. The passage of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) in 1966 established the National Register and the process for adding properties to it.
