Hangable Auto Bulb
''Hangable Auto Bulb'' is a series of two 1995 EPs by electronic musician Richard D. James, under his alias AFX. The two were re-released by Warp Records as a single album on 31 October 2005. They marked James's first foray into rapid drill 'n' bass style beat programming. Overview Split across two 12" EPs, the second released eight weeks after the first and each limited to 1000 pressings, the records marked a significant change in sound from previous AFX and Aphex Twin releases. Moving away from the analogue sounds of '' ...I Care Because You Do'' (1995), the tracks show James experimenting with computer-arranged breakbeat programming and timestretched samples inspired by drum and bass; this style would become known as "drill 'n' bass, and would become the dominant sound in his work up until the ''Analord'' releases of 2005. Richard David James (born 18 August 1971), best known as Aphex Twin, is an Irish-born British musician, composer and DJ. He is known for his idiosyncratic work in electronic music, electronic styles such as techno, ambient music, ambient, and jungle music, jungle. ''Caustic Window'' (also known as ''Caustic Window LP'') is an album by Richard D. James under the alias Caustic Window. Originally planned for release in 1996, only a few test pressings were produced. One of the copies, which surfaced for sale on Discogs in 2014, was bought and digitally distributed through a Kickstarter campaign. It was eventually sold on eBay for $46,300. Background Although 2 of the tracks ("Phlaps" and "Cunt") appeared on compilations in the 1990s, the actual ''Caustic Window'' album's release was canceled. At least five copies were pressed in 1994. At least one copy was sold through the Record & Tape Exchange in Camden in the late 1990s. One of the copies surfaced on Discogs in 2014, with a price of $13,500. In response, We Are the Music Makers, an electronic music forum, negotiated with Rephlex Records and initiated a Kickstarter project in which backers received a digital copy of the album. ''...I Care Because You Do'' is the third studio album by electronic musician Richard D. James under the alias Aphex Twin, released on 24 April 1995 by Warp. Containing material recorded between 1990 and 1994, the album marked James's return to a percussive sound following the largely beatless ''Selected Ambient Works Volume II'' (1994), and pairs abrasive rhythms with symphonic and ambient elements. The cover artwork is a self-portrait by James. ''I Care Because You Do'' peaked at number 24 on the UK Albums Chart. It was supported by the single and EP release of the track " Ventolin". The album received positive reviews, with ''Entertainment Weekly'', '' Spin'', and ''Rolling Stone'' commending it as a return to form for James. ''Analogue Bubblebath'', also released as ''Aphex Twin ep'', is the first record by musician and producer Richard D. James. The EP was released under his alias The Aphex Twin through Mighty Force Records in September 1991. It was the inaugural release for the label, which at the time was a record shop in Exeter. The record was hugely influential on the development of electronic music, particularly techno and ambient techno. Its release has been described as a key event in the history of dance music. It is the first release in what became the ''Analogue Bubblebath'' series. James previously had little inclination to release his music, though it had long circulated on tapes amongst his friends, and he would include his tracks in his set when DJing. His reluctance was eventually overcome while he was tripping on acid at a rave where he was performing, where he finally agreed to release the record. Harold Williamson (28 December 1922 – 11 March 2001) was an English journalist. He was born at 38 Long Row, Colliery Row, Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham and was most notable for his work on the BBC current affairs/documentary series ''Man Alive (BBC TV series), Man Alive'' and ''Bernard Braden, Braden's Week'' in the 1960s. He was particularly adept at interviewing children. His documentary feature ''Gale is Dead'', focusing on a teenage heroin addict, won numerous awards in 1970, and was nominated for a British Academy Television Awards, BAFTA.
