Ōda, Shimane
is a city located on the coast of the Sea of Japan in Shimane Prefecture, Japan. The city has a total area of 436.11 km2. On March 1, 2017, the city's population was estimated at 34,354, giving a population density of 79 persons per km2. The city was founded on January 1, 1954. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
