Peter Handford
Peter Handford (21 March 1919 – 6 November 2007) was an English location sound recordist. He is considered a master and pioneer of this area of sound recording. Life and work Born into a vicarage family at Four Elms in Kent, England, Handford began work in 1936 with London Films at Denham as a trainee sound recordist. He honed his sound recording skills during the D-Day landings, where he served with the Army Film Unit of the British Expeditionary Force. His first screen credit was on ''Black Magic'' (1949) and in the same year he recorded ''Under Capricorn'' for Alfred Hitchcock. In 1972, Hitchcock sought him out to work on ''Frenzy''. Frank Handford was an English rugby union international who played on four occasions for his country and was part of the first official British Isles team that toured South Africa in 1910. Early life Frank Gordon Handford was born in 1884 in Eccles, Lancashire, the son of Joseph Handford, a tea merchant who hailed from Stockport, Cheshire, and his second wife Annie Elizabeth Walker of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England whom he married in 1882. Frank had a number of older siblings from hisn father's first marriage. He lived in Barton upon Irwell before he went to The Leys School in Cambridge as a boarder. In 1906 he enrolled for an agricultural course at the Aspatria Agricultural College, where after two years of theoretical and practical study he left with an award of the Diploma of the College. James Handford
James Handford (1 February 1890 – 14 August 1948) was an English cricketer for Derbyshire. A right-handed batsman, he was born in Hayfield, Derbyshire. He placed nine first-class matches for his county during the 1910 County Championship, scoring 137 runs at 9.78. Handford played all around the batting order, making his career best 23 against Essex on 16 May 1910. He went on to play minor cricket for Heavy Woollen District against Yorkshire Second XI in 1911, where he enjoyed his strongest performance, nine and 54 with the bat as well as six wickets – including a five wicket haul – with the ball.
