''Handbook on history of Ukraine'' (''Історія України'') is a multi-volume comprehensive encyclopedic book about the history of Ukraine. There were at least two editions published by Kyiv publisher " Geneza" which specializes in publishing school handbooks. The first edition was published in 1993–99, the second in 1999. The authors of the handbook are Ihor Pidkova and Roman Shust. History Of Ukraine

Yaroslav Hrytsak ( ua, Ярослав Грицак; born 1 January 1960) is a Ukrainian historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences and professor of the Ukrainian Catholic University. Director of the Institute for Historical Studies of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Guest professor (1996-2009) at Central European University in Budapest; First Vice-President (1999-2005) of the International Association of Ukrainians. Chief editor of the scientific journal "Ukraine Modern". Member of the editorial board of the journals Ab Imperio, Critique, Slavic Review, and a member of the supervisory board of Harvard Ukrainian Studies. Honorary Professor of NaUKMA. Education He gained his PhD in 1987 at University of Lviv. Hrytsak passed his habilitation in 1996. He has been director of the Institute for Historical Research, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv since 1992. Encyclopedia Of Ukraine
The ''Encyclopedia of Ukraine'' ( uk, Енциклопедія українознавства, translit=Entsyklopediia ukrainoznavstva), published from 1984 to 2001, is a fundamental work of Ukrainian Studies. Development The work was created under the auspices of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in Europe (Sarcelles, near Paris). As the ''Encyclopedia of Ukrainian Studies'' it conditionally consists of two parts, the first being a general part that consists of a three volume reference work divided in to subjects or themes. The second part is a 10 volume encyclopedia with entries arranged alphabetically. The editor-in-chief of Volumes I and II (published in 1984 and 1988 respectively) was Volodymyr Kubijovyč. The concluding three volumes, with Danylo Husar Struk as editor-in-chief, appeared in 1993. Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine ( uk, Енциклопедія Сучасної України (ЕСУ), translit=Entsyklopediia Suchasnoi Ukrainy (ESU)), abbreviated EMU, is a multi-Volume (bibliography), volume national encyclopedia of Ukraine. It is an academic project of the Institute of Encyclopaedic Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Today, the reference work is available in a print edition and online. The ''EMU'' provides an integral image of modern Ukraine describing events, institutions, organizations, activities, notions and people from the early 20th century to the present. It embraces all spheres of life in Ukraine, and reflects current views on historical events and personalities.
