Lani Hanchett
Edwin Lani Hanchett (November 2, 1919 - August 11, 1975) was an American prelate who served as Bishop of Hawaii from 1969 to 1975. Education and early life Hanchett was born in Honolulu on November 2, 1919 to Alsoberry Kaumu Hanchett and Mary McGuire. His father was first doctor of Hawaiian ancestry to practice in the islands. He graduated from 'Iolani School in 1931 and was a graduate of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and the University of Hawaii. On June 21, 1941, he married Puanani Akana, and together had four children. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 1969. Priesthood He was ordained deacon on July 20, 1952 and priest on September 19, 1953 by Bishop Harry S. Kennedy of Hawaii. He then became vicar of the Church of the Holy Innocents in Lahaina, Hawaii, while in 1959 he transferred to St George's Church in Honolulu to serve as its vicar. Luther Hanchett
Luther Hanchett (October 25, 1825 – November 24, 1862) was an American lawyer, politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He represented Wisconsin in the United States House of Representatives and was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Born in Middlebury, Ohio, Hanchett attended the common schools. He studied law in Ohio and was admitted to the bar in 1846. He became a practicing attorney in Fremont, Ohio, but moved to Portage County, Wisconsin, in 1849. He engaged in lumber and mining enterprises and was elected District Attorney of Portage County for two years. For a short time he was engaged in a partnership with James S. Alban, and, on November 11, 1853, he married Alban's daughter, Lucinda. Mary Hunt
Mary Hunt (July 4, 1830 – April 24, 1906) was an American activist in the United States temperance movement promoting total abstinence and prohibition of alcohol. She gained the power to accept or reject children's textbooks based on their representation of her views of the danger of alcohol. On her death there were questions asked regarding the finances of the organisation. Background Mary Hannah Hanchett was born in Litchfield, Connecticut on July 4, 1830, the daughter of Nancy Swift Hanchett (1804–1897) and Ephraim Hanchett (1803–1854). She graduated from Maryland's Patapsco Female Institute and stayed on to teach science. She married Leander B. Hunt of Massachusetts in 1852 and moved to Hyde Park, Boston.
