Hanane Khaled
Hanan Ahmed Khaled ( ar, حنان احمد خالد; born 23 March 1963) is an Egyptian female former track and field athlete, who specialised in the shot put and discus throw events. She is the most successful female athlete in the history of Egyptian track and field, winning a total of two gold medals in All-Africa Games, four gold, five silver and two bronze medals in African Athletics Championships in discus throw and shot put. She represented her country at the World Championships in Athletics in 1987, 1991 and 1995. At both the 1988 and 1989 African Championships in Athletics she won the shot put and was runner-up in the discus. At national level, she won ten shot put titles and eleven discus throw titles, including an undefeated streak in both from 1987 to 1992. She was also her country's first ever hammer throw champion, upon the event's introduction at the national championships in 1998. She also played football (soccer) and is now a football referee. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. Athletics At The 1987 All-Africa Games
The fourth All-Africa Games were held in August 1987 in Nairobi, Kenya. Four new events were added to the games these were the women's 3000 metres, 10000 metres, 400 metres hurdles and 5000 metres track walk. Additionally the pentathlon for women was replaced with the heptathlon. Also four nations won medals for the first time in athletics at the All-Africa Games. Egyptian athletes have won Track and Field medals in African, Pan Arab Games and international athletic events. Most of the gold medals in African or international event were won in the throwing events. In the 1970s and 1980s Nagui Asaad, Hassan Ahmed Hamad, Hisham Greiss, Mohamed Naguib Hamed, Ahmed Kamel Shata and Ahmed Mohamed Ashoush formed one of the strongest Egyptian teams in the throwing events.
