Gary Hamson
Gary Hamson (born 24 August 1959) is an English former footballer. A midfielder, he scored 15 goals in 292 league appearances in a 12-year career in the Football League with Sheffield United, Leeds United, Bristol City, and Port Vale. He retired as a player in March 1988, and after a brief spell coaching at Port Vale he took up work as a financial adviser. Career Hamson had trials with Derby County and played for Ilkeston Town, before he joined Sheffield United, turning professional in November 1976. United finished the 1976–77 season in 11th place in the Second Division under the stewardship of Jimmy Sirrel. The "Blades" then ended the 1977–78 campaign in 12th place under new boss Harry Haslam, before suffering relegation in 1978–79. In league and cup competitions, Hamson scored a total of nine goals in 124 appearances during his three years at Bramall Lane. Jennifer Hamson
Jennifer Hamson (born January 23, 1992) is an American professional volleyball player and former basketball player. She was also an All-American player for the Brigham Young University Cougars volleyball team. Early career Hamson grew up in Lindon, Utah. She attended Pleasant Grove High School, where she was an all-state basketball selection and a member of the state championship volleyball team. She also played for the Utah Elite club volleyball team. Hamson was recruited to play volleyball by the University of Utah, Colorado State, Utah State, Long Beach State, University of Louisville, and UNLV. College Hamson was a dual sport athlete at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, and is considered by many to be the best ever female athlete at BYU. She led the Cougars to a sweet sixteen appearance in the 2014 NCAA tournament, only the third #12 seed to ever make it that far. Tresa Spaulding Hamson was an American basketball player for the BYU Cougars women's basketball team from 1983 to 1987. She was raised in Meridian, Idaho. Her freshman year, she was named to the ''Women's Basketball Yearbook'' All-American honors first team and was a Street & Smith All-American honorable mention. As a sophomore, she was named First Team All-HCAC, Kodak Division I All-District VII, and American Women's Sports Federation fourth team All-America. Her junior year she was ranked third in the nation for points per game (25.2 average) and seventh in field goal percentage (.636). That same year she also earned HCAC Player of the Year honors and was named Kodak Division I All-District VII.
