Hamsa Geethe
''Hamsageethe'' ( kn, ಹಂಸಗೀತೆ, ''The Swan song'') is a 1975 Indian feature film in the Kannada language. It was directed by G. V. Iyer, based on a novel by T. R. Subba Rao with Anant Nag and Rekha Rao in lead roles. The film won 2 National Film Awards; the National Film Award for Kannada film and National Award for Best Male Playback singer (M. Balamuralikrishna) at the 23rd National Film Awards. ''Hamsa Geethe'', the novel by Ta Ra Su was made into a Hindi film, '' Basant Bahar'' in 1956. Anant Nag
Dr Anant Nagarkatte (born 4 September 1948) is an Indian actor whose predominant contribution has been in Kannada cinema. He has acted in over 300 films which include over 200 Kannada films as well as Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam and English films. He has featured in theatre plays, parallel cinema and television shows. Nag made his feature film debut through ''Sankalpa'' (1973) directed by Prof. P.V Nanjaraj Urs. Sankalpa went on to win seven state awards in Karnataka. His foray into parallel cinema was through Shyam Benegal's '' Ankur'' (1974). Basant Bahar (film)
''Basant Bahar'' (), directed by Raja Nawathe, is a 1956 Indian film. This musical had nine outstanding songs, with lyrics written by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri; and music composition by Shankar–Jaikishan. The movie is an adaptation of the Kannada novel ''Hamsageethe'' by TaRaSu. ''Hamsa'' means swan and ''Geethe'' means song. It is believed that before a swan dies, it will sing without opening its mouth. That mutter of melody is believed to be unmatched since any scene of lyricism falls short of its reach. Plot The film begins with Gopal Joshi (Bharat Bhushan) singing a raga. His father, Narsin Joshi (Om Prakash), the royal astrologer, comes and scolds him for singing and says he should become an astrologer. Nemai Ghosh (director)
Nemai Ghosh, or Nimai Ghosh (1914–1988), was an Indian film director and cinematographer, best known for his film '' Chinnamul'' (1950). Career Ghosh started his career as a stage actor with Little Theatre Group formed by Utpal Dutt . In addition to photography, he directed the highly acclaimed and neo-realistic '' Chinnamul'' (1950), that dealt with partition of Bengal during the partition of India in 1947. Film director Ritwik Ghatak started his film career as an assistant in this film. However, despite critical acclaim, ''Chinnamul'' failed commercially.
