John Hamre
John Julian Hamre (born July 3, 1950) is a specialist in international studies, a former Washington government official and President and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a position he has held with that think tank since 2000. Early life and education Hamre is the son of Melvin Sanders and Ruth Lucile (Larson) Hamre. He attended primary and secondary school in Clark, South Dakota, graduating from the Clark Public High School in May 1968. He earned a B.A. (with high distinction) in political science and economics from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (1972). The following year he was a Rockefeller Fellow at Harvard Divinity School. Hamre Church
Hamre Church ( no, Hamre kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Osterøy Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Hamre. It is the church for the Hamre parish which is part of the Åsane prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The wooden church was built in a long church design in the late 1500s (possibly in 1585) using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 350 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1329, but the church was not built that year. The first church in Hamre was a wooden stave church that is thought to have been built in 1023 or 1024. There isn't much known about this church, but it was the main church for all of Nordhordland, and therefore it was much more important than the typical parish church. Hamre (historically, Hammer) is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until 1964 when it was dissolved and its lands split up among several other municipalities. It was located in what is now Alver Municipality and Osterøy Municipality in Vestland county. It was once a large municipality, but over time it was reduced in size until it covered an area of by the time it was dissolved in 1964. At that time, it encompassed land on both sides of the Osterfjorden on the Lindås peninsula on the north side and on the island of Osterøy on the south side. The village of Hamre is located near the extreme western point on the island of Osterøy, across the Osterfjorden from the village of Knarvik. Ole Hamre (born 20 October 1959) is a Norwegian drummer. He has worked with Bugge Wesseltoft, Kari Bremnes, Ole Paus, Ketil Bjørnstad, Frode Alnæs, Silje Nergaard, Arve Henriksen and Knut Reiersrud. (in Norway) Career Hamre is known for his collaboration with accordionist Gabriel Fliflet, including the duo Fliflet/Hamre (1991–) and the music group Fri Fri Flyt (1993–2001). As a composer, he has written a number of commissioned works, music for film and television, vignettes, and the like.
