Hampshire Cup (rugby Union)
The Hampshire Cup is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organised by the Hampshire Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 1970–71 season, with the inaugural winners being U.S. Portsmouth. It is the most important rugby union cup competition in Hampshire, ahead of the Hampshire Bowl and Hampshire Plate. The Hampshire Cup is currently open to club sides based in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight or the Channel Islands, who play between tier 6 (London 1 South) and tier 7 (London 2 South West) of the English rugby union league system. The format is a knockout cup with a preliminary round, semi-finals and a final to be held at the home ground of one of the finalists between March–May. Havant RFC
Havant RFC is an English rugby union club, playing in the RFU's London SE Premier , and is a member of the Hampshire RFU. Havant currently run four senior men's teams – 1st XV, 2nd XV (Dolphins) – who play in the Solent League, 3rd XV ('A' XV) – who play in Hampshire 2 and a veteran's side (The Mariners). In addition to the senior men's teams there is an Academy team (under 19s) – who play in Hampshire Colts League Division 1 – and two senior women’s teams, the first XV, who are playing in the RFUW's Women's National Championship South 2 League for the 2016–17 season and the Sirens. Additionally Havant Minis and Juniors run sides covering every age from infant school to sixth form. Basingstoke ( ) is the largest town in the county of Hampshire. It is situated in south-central England and lies across a valley at the source of the River Loddon, at the far western edge of The North Downs. It is located north-east of Southampton, south-west of London, 27 miles (43 km) west of Guildford, south of Reading and north-east of the county town and former capital Winchester. Bedhampton
Bedhampton is a former village, and now suburb, located in the Borough of Havant, Hampshire, England. It is located at the northern end of Langstone Harbour and at the foot of the eastern end of Portsdown Hill. Early mentions of Bedhampton are recorded in the ninth century, and the village was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Modern Bedhampton has a railway station, with regular services to Portsmouth, Brighton, and London, and less frequent services to Southampton, Bristol, and South Wales. Winchester RFC is an English rugby union club that is affiliated with the Hampshire Rugby Football Union, Hampshire RFU. Winchester currently run three senior men's teams - 1st XV, 2nd XV - who play in Hampshire 2 and a 3rd XV (Winchester Knights - largely a veteran's side) who play in Hampshire 3. There is a Women's team and mini and juniors and Colts sides covering all age groups from U5s upwards. Gosport ( ) is a town and non-metropolitan borough on the south coast of Hampshire, South East England. At the 2011 Census, its population was 82,662. Eastleigh is a town in Hampshire, England, between Southampton and Winchester. It is the largest town and the administrative seat of the Borough of Eastleigh, with a population of 24,011 at the 2011 census. Jersey Reds is a rugby club based in Jersey, Channel Islands that currently competes at the RFU Championship, which is the second tier of English professional rugby. Until season 2022/23, the professional arm of Jersey Reds was part of Jersey RFC, a members' club established in 1879 which also had an amateur men's side, Jersey Reds Athletic, who play in the National Leagues (tier 7); Jersey Reds Women, who play in the Women's National Championship South 2 league; and a thriving Mini section with over 500 boys and girls participating.
