Hamdard Naunihal
''Hamdard Naunehal'' ( ur, ہمدرد نونہال) is a Pakistani kids bilingual (Urdu and English) monthly magazine. first published by Hakim Said of Hamdard Laboratories, under the editorship of Masood Ahmed Barkati, in 1953. This magazine is very popular among children due to its emphasis on proper Urdu through the section "نونہال لغت", titbits, moral & mystery stories, cartoons and informative snippets. The current editor for the magazine is Saleem Farrukhi while the patron is Sadia Rashid (daughter of late Hakim Saeed Shaheed – a philanthropist and founder of Hamdard Industries). The current team took over after death of previous editor Masood Ahmed Barkati. The magazine keeps his memory alive by publishing articles from his times. Hamdard Pakistan, () is a Pakistani unani medicine company which is based in Karachi, Pakistan. It was established by Hakim Said as Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) in 1948. History Hakim Abdul Majeed (1883 – 1922) founded an organization called Hamdard Dawakhana in Delhi in 1906. At that time, it was a small clinic and herbal medicine shop. Abdul Majeed had come from a family that included many herbal doctors, and he joined the herbal pharmacy of the renowned Unani physician Hakim Ajmal Khan. As he developed his knowledge of medicine, he became a Hakim and decided to establish his own pharmacy and clinic, which he called Hamdard Dawakhana. Rooh Afza syrup was officially launched in 1907. Sadia Rashid (born 1946) is a Pakistani educationist who is the current president of Hamdard Pakistan, chancellor of the Hamdard University and president of the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA). Early life She was born in 1946 in Sitaram Bazar, Old Delhi, India to Hakim Said ( Shaheed ) and Naimat Begum. Her ancestors came from Kashgar (now Kashi, Xinjiang, China) to the Indian subcontinent, in the reign of the Mughal emperor, Shah Alam. They first stayed at Peshawar for about eighteen years, then moved to Multan and lastly settled down at Delhi. In January 1948, her family migrated to Karachi after the establishment of Pakistan. Hakeem Muhammad Saeed ( ur, ; 9 January 1920 – 17 October 1998) was a Pakistani medical researcher, scholar and philanthropist. He served as governor of Sindh Province from 1993 until 1994. Saeed was one of Pakistan's most prominent medical researchers in the field of Eastern medicines. He established the Hamdard Foundation in 1948, prior to his settlement in West Pakistan. In the next few years, the herbal medical products of the Hamdard Foundation became household names in Pakistan. Hakeem Muhammad Saeed authored and compiled about 200 books in medicine, philosophy, science, health, religion, natural medicine, literary, social and travelogues. In 1981, Saeed became one of the founding member of the World Cultural Council, a non-profit international organization, based in Mexico. Masood Ahmed Barkati ( ur, ) (15 August 1933 – 10 December 2017) was a Pakistani writer and editor who was known as the editor of '' Hamdard Naunihal'' and Monthly ''Hamdard-e-Sehat'' Karachi. Early life ''Masood Ahmed Barkati'' was born on 15 August 1933, in Tonk, current-day Rajasthan, India. His grandfather, ''Hakim Syed Barkaat Ahmed'', was a renowned physician and religious scholar in the state of Rajasthan. His father, ''Hakim Mohammad Ahmed'', was also an Unani medicine physician.
