Hamburg, New York
Hamburg is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 56,936. It is named after the city of Hamburg, Germany. The town is on the western border of the county and is south of Buffalo. Hamburg is one of the Southtowns in Erie County. The villages of Hamburg and Blasdell are in the town. History Historical evidence shows the area was settled originally by the Erie people. Around 1805 the settlement was known as "Barkerville", named after Zenas Barker, the postmaster. The earliest settlers were Nathaniel Titus and Dr. Ruth Belden in 1804, and the first landowner in the area was John Cummings, who built the first grist mill in 1806. The town of Hamburg was formed by government decree on March 20, 1812, from the (now defunct) town of Willink. Glenville, North Carolina
Glenville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson County, North Carolina, United States. It is now a popular lakeside vacation community with many second homes that sometimes are rented around Lake Glenville, which flooded and destroyed the original town. As of the 2010 census, the year-round population was 110. Demographics Geography Glenville is in south-central Jackson County. It is on the east side of Lake Glenville (formerly Thorpe Lake), a reservoir on the West Fork of the Tuckasegee River. North Carolina Highway 107 passes through the community, leading north (downriver) to Cullowhee and south to Cashiers. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Glenville CDP has a total area of , of which , or 0.46%, are water. Foggy Bottom
Foggy Bottom is one of the oldest late 18th- and 19th-century neighborhoods in Washington, D.C., located west of the White House and downtown Washington, in the Northwest quadrant. It is bounded roughly by 17th Street NW to the east, Rock Creek Parkway to the west, Constitution Avenue NW to the south, and Pennsylvania Avenue NW to the north. Foggy Bottom is thought to have received its name due to an atmospheric quirk of its low lying, marshy riverside location, which made it susceptible to concentrations of fog, and later, industrial smoke. Trollinger, Schiava, or Vernatsch, is a red German/ Italian wine grape variety that was likely first originally cultivated in the wine regions of South Tyrol and Trentino, but today is almost exclusively cultivated on steep, sunny locations in the Württemberg wine region of Baden-Württemberg. It is primarily known under the synonyms Trollinger in Germany, Vernatsch in South Tyrol and Schiava in other Italian regions. As a table grape the variety is sometimes known as Black Hamburg,J. The Hamburg, nl, Hollands hoen, italic=no, german: Hamburger, italic=no, is a breed of chicken which is thought to have originated in Holland (in some sources, Hamburg, Germany) sometime prior to the fourteenth century. The name may be spelled Hamburgh in the United Kingdom and in Australia. Characteristics The Hamburg is a small or medium-sized breed. Cocks weigh and hens about , with slender legs and a neat rose comb. Ring size is for cocks and for hens. Eleven different colour varieties are recognised in Germany and Holland, including silver-spangled, gold-spangled, gold-pencilled, citron-pencilled, silver-pencilled, white, black and citron-spangled; six of these are included in the American standard of perfection. Pencilled breeds are smallest and self-coloured birds are largest. There are also Bantam Hamburgs. Use Hamburgs mature quickly and are considered good egg producers.
