Hamburger Meile
The Hamburger Meile was a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It was run at Hamburg-Horn over a distance of 1,600 metres (about 1 mile), and was scheduled to take place each year in June or July. The race was last run at Hamburg-Horn in 2011, being moved to Hanover in 2012. However a very similar event, the Group Two Meilen Trophy, was run at the same course only three weeks later, and this race and the Hamburger Stutenmeile (restricted to fillies and mares), has since been kept at the expense of the ''Hamburger Meile''. History The event was established in 1986, and it was initially called the Cognac Hennessy-Rennen. It was originally classed at Listed level and contested over 1,600 metres. It was extended to 1,800 metres in 1987, and reverted to 1,600 metres in 1989. The race was known as the Hamburg Dresden-Pokal in the early 1990s. Galopprennbahn Hamburg-Horn (''Hamburg-Horn Racecourse''), also known as Horner Rennbahn, is a major horse racing venue located in Horn, Hamburg, Horn, Hamburg, Germany. Andreas Schütz
Andreas Schütz (born 19 February 1968) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. From a prominent racing family, he is the fourth generation to train professionally. Andreas Schütz started out as an amateur jockey, winning four German championships from 1984–1987 and the European championship in 1987. In 1992 he began working as an assistant trainer for his father Bruno Schütz who had built one of the Germany's most successful public training stables. Due to health problems, his father retired and in 1998 Andreas took over the running of the stable. Highly successful, Andreas Schütz has won numerous German Group one races including the five wins in both the Deutsches Derby and the Preis der Diana. Heinz Jentzsch (13 March 192021 April 2012) was the most successful horse trainer in the history of German horse racing. Career During his active years from 1942 to 1999, Jentzsch recorded 4,029 victories. After World War II he came to Cologne to train for the 'Stallgemeinschaft Asterblüte', a group of major German owners of race-horses (Gestüte Schlenderhan, Fährhof, Bona, Charlottenhof, Ittlingen). Dominique Boeuf (born 6 June 1968 at Maisons-Laffitte, France) is a jockey in Thoroughbred flat racing. He began his career while still a teen and won his first race on 15 September 1984. Andrasch Starke (born 4 January 1974, in Germany) is a jockey in international Thoroughbred horse racing. Starke began racing at age fifteen as an amateur and since turning professional has won the German riding championship six times. He has competed in Canada and the United States and has won races in Dubai, France, Italy, and Singapore.
