Hamar Cathedral School
Hamar katedralskole ( en, Hamar Cathedral School) is an upper secondary school in Hamar, Norway. History Founded in 1153 as Schola cathedralis hamarensis, it is the second oldest school in Norway together with Bergen katedralskole and Oslo katedralskole, which were founded the same year, one year after the founding of Trondheim katedralskole. Hamar Cathedral School was founded by Cardinal Nicolas Breakspear, later to become Pope Adrian IV (c. 1100 – 1159). With the Protestant Reformation, Hamar Diocese was closed and in 1602 and the school was merged with Oslo Cathedral School. The school remained closed until 1876, when it was reopened under the name ''Hamar offentlige skole for høyere allmenndannelse''. The old name was reintroduced in 1936. Education in Norway is mandatory for all children aged from 6 to 16. Schools are typically divided into two divisions: primary and lower secondary schooling. Knut Faldbakken
Knut Faldbakken (born 31 August 1941, in Hamar) is a Norwegian novelist. He studied psychology at Oslo University, and then worked as a journalist. Faldbakken visited a number of countries, working variously as a bookkeeper, sailor, and factory worker, and began writing books in 1967 while living in Paris. He was editor of the literary magazine ''Vinduet'' (''The Window'') between 1975 and 1979. Lasse Sætre (born 10 March 1974) is a former speed skater from Norway, who for several years was among the world's best long distance skaters. Sætre who grew up in Nord-Odal competed in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Olympics, and won a 10,000-m bronze in the 2002 Winter Olympics. He won another 10,000-m bronze in the 2003 World Single Distance Championships. Anders Baasmo (born 29 January 1976) is a Norwegian actor originally from Hamar. Baasmo graduated from the Norwegian Acting Academy in 2000. He started his professional career at the Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim, Norway. He later joined the Det Norske Teatret in Oslo. Anette Trettebergstuen (born 25 May 1981) is a Norwegian politician representing the Labour Party, who has served as Minister of Culture and Equality in Støre's Cabinet since 2021. Jan Åge Fjørtoft (born 10 January 1967) is a Norwegian former professional footballer. A powerful centre forward with goalscoring ability, he played professionally in Norway, Austria, England and Germany. Morten Andreas Meyer
Morten Andreas Meyer (born 20 October 1959 in Sarpsborg) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. In 2001, when the second cabinet Bondevik held office, Meyer was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development. He held this post until 2003, but became Minister of Labour and Administration in a March 2004 cabinet reshuffle. In June 2004 the job was renamed Minister of Modernisation. John Erik Fornæss (born 14 October 1946, Hamar, Norway) is a Norwegian-American mathematician. Fornæss received his master's degree in 1970 from the University of Oslo with thesis ''Uniform approximation on manifolds'' and his PhD in 1974 from the University of Washington under Edgar Lee Stout with thesis ''Embedding Strictly Pseudoconvex Domains in Convex Domains''.
