Halyna Petrosanyak
Halyna Petrosanyak ( uk, Галина Іванівна Петросаняк; born 1969) is a Ukrainian poet, writer and translator. Life Halyna Petrosanyak was born in 1969 in a remote village in the Ukrainian Carpathians. She graduated in German and Russian studies from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. Petrosanyak was among the authors linked to the group known as the Stanislav phenomenon. She debuted in 1996 with her poetry book ''Парк на схилі'' ("Park on the hill"). A poem from the publication was awarded with the Bu-Ba-Bu "Best Poem of the Year" award. Petrosanyak is also the laureate of Hubert-Burda-Preis für junge Lyrik (2007) and the Ivan Franko Prize (2010). Her works have appeared in various literary magazines and almanacs and have been translated into several languages, including English, German, Polish, Russian, Czech and Italian. Alexander Granach
Alexander Granach (April 18, 1890 – March 14, 1945) was a German-Austrian actor in the 1920s and 1930s who emigrated to the United States in 1938. Life and career Granach was born Schaje Granoch in Werbowitz (Wierzbowce/Werbiwci) (Austrian Galicia then, now ''Verbivtsi'', Kolomyia Raion, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine), to Jewish parents and rose to theatrical prominence at the Volksbühne in Berlin. Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste in München (Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts) is an association of renowned personalities in Munich, Bavaria. It was founded by the Free State of Bavaria in 1948, continuing a tradition established in 1808 by the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich. Soma Morgenstern (3 May 1890 – 17 April 1976) was a Jewish-Ukrainian writer and journalist. Biography Soma (real name Salomo) Morgenstern spent his childhood in various villages in Galicia (Central Europe), Galicia. His father worked as a bailiff, but was also a Jewish scholar and fulfilled the functions of a prayer leader in the area where the Morgensterns lived at that time. The Morgenstern family were adherents of Hasidic Judaism, and so religion played a significant role in Soma's childhood. Morgenstern's upbringing was not only religious but also multilingual. In his childhood memories Ukrainian language, Ukrainian was his first language, though Yiddish became his native tongue. Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University
The Precarpathian National University (abbreviated as PNU) is a public research university in Ivano-Frankivsk. It is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Western Ukraine. The history of the university dates back to March 15, 1940, when Stanislav Teacher Training Institute was established. Later, in 1950, it was renamed Stanislav (since 1962 - Ivano-Frankivsk) Pedagogical Institute.
