Halvor Kongsjorden
Halvor Kongsjorden (5 November 1911 – 15 June 1990) was a Norwegian sport shooter, World Champion from 1939 and 1947, Olympic competitor from 1948, and a resistance member during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany in World War II. Sports career Kongsjorden was born in Veggli in Buskerud, and was affiliated with the club Oslo Østre Skytterlag. He achieved a bronze medal in the 1935 World Championships, and became individual World Champion in free rifle in 1939, winning the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Luzern. He was team World Champion from 1947 and 1949. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, placing fourth in the 50 metre rifle prone, and 7th in the 300 metre rifle three positions. In 1949 he also won a World Championships bronze medal. He was five times individual Norwegian Champion between 1937 and 1951. Veggli
Veggli is a village in the municipality of Rollag, in the county of Buskerud, Norway. Veggli is located about 66 kilometers north of Kongsberg. It is located in the traditional district and valley of Numedal. It is situated on the Numedalslågen River, near the mouth of Nørdsteåas estuary. Its population in 2005 was 292. Veggli train station was on the Numedal Line. The line ran from Kongsberg to Rødberg in Nore og Uvdal. The line was officially opened in 1927. Passenger traffic on the track was closed in 1988. West from Veggli, the road goes over Vegglifjell where Veggli Lodge and Veggli Skisenter are located. Further the road leads to the villages of Austbygdi and Tessungdalen in Tinn. Veggli Church (''Veggli kirke'') in Kongsberg deanery. It was constructed of wood and designed by the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch (1801–1865). The church has 160 seats. 300 Metre Rifle Three Positions
300 m rifle three positions (formerly known as one of four free rifle disciplines) is an ISSF shooting event, involving shooting 40 shots each from the prone, the standing and the kneeling positions. Men and women both shoot the same number of shots, though previously women only shot half the course - or 20 shots in each position. Originally there had been champions declared in each position based on the results of the 40 shots in the three position match. A special 300 metre rifle prone match was added in 1982 however, after a pattern from the so-called English Match. After 1990, no World Championship medals have been awarded in the standing or kneeling position. History 300 m rifle has been a declining event for many decades because of the considerable cost for competing in the event and the difficulty of creating ranges for it. Operation Sunshine
Operation Sunshine was an anti-demolition operation in occupied Norway from October 1944 to May 1945. It was planned by Norwegian military personnel in the United Kingdom in cooperation with British forces, and part of an effort to protect essential installations and industry, in particular large power stations, against destruction in a possible scorched earth action by the Germans towards the end of World War II. Planning Operation Sunshine was planned by Leif Tronstad from his position within the exiled Norwegian Ministry of Defence in London.
