''Halli Meshtru'' () is a 1992 Kannada-language romantic comedy film directed by Mohan-Manju. The film starred Ravichandran, Bindiya and Tara in key roles with Balakrishna, Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Silk Smitha playing supporting roles. The film is a remake of 1983 Tamil film ''Mundhanai Mudichu''. The music of the film was composed by Hamsalekha. Gangaraju (born June 23, 1951), professionally known as Hamsalekha, is an Indian film composer and a songwriter who works in South Indian cinema, predominantly in the Kannada film industry since the late 1980s. He is also a screenplay writer, dialogue writer, instrumentalist and a conductor, composed and written for over 500 feature films. Also regarded as one of the greatest music composers of all time in history. Girija Lokesh is an Indian theatre and film actress and occasional film producer who works in Kannada cinema. She is wife of actor Lokesh, and is the mother of former actress Pooja Lokesh, and actor and television presenter Srujan Lokesh. Kollur Manjunatha Bhatta Rathnakar (11 April 1931 - 21 September 2010) was an Indian actor and director, known for his work in Kannada film industry. He is best known for his comic roles in movies including Kanyarathna (1963), Satya Harishchandra (1965), Guru Shishyaru (1981), Hosa Belaku (1982) and Halli Meshtru (1992). Personal life Rathnakar was born in Kollur in a family of priests. His father Manjunatha Bhatta was one of the priests at Mookambika Temple, Kollur. Being the only child in the family, Rathnakar refused the job of priest and came to Mysore. Career Early days & theatre life Rathnakar left home at the age of 12 and came to Mysore. He worked in a Choultry on Seethavilasa road and used to sing near temples in Mysore. Sorat Ashwath and Dikki Madhava Rao who heard his singing, introduced him to theatre personality H.L.N. Simha. ''Mundhanai Mudichu'' () is a 1983 Indian Tamil language, Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed and written by K. Bhagyaraj and also stars alongside Urvashi (actress), Urvashi (in her major Tamil debut). The film focuses on Parimala, a mischievous girl, who falls in love with a widower who works as a teacher. She marries him by falsely accusing him of having sex with her, but she has to take drastic steps to win his love. Bhagyaraj based the story of ''Mundhanai Mudichu'' on his friend who lost his wife, and a woman who fell in love with him even as others started gossiping about them. Another inspiration was a poster of ''Ramu (1966 film), Ramu'' (1966) which depicted its protagonist as a single father, and Bhagyaraj imagining himself in that position.
