Alison Halford
Alison Monica Halford (born 8 May 1940) is a former senior police officer who became a politician. She was Labour member of the National Assembly for Wales, representing the Delyn constituency, between 1999 and 2003. In 2006 she transferred allegiance to the Conservative Party and as of 2007 advises the Conservatives on home affairs. Early life Halford was born in Norwich on 8 May 1940. She attended a Catholic grammar school. She served for three years in the Women's Royal Air Force, before moving to London to train as a dental hygienist. Police career In 1962, Halford joined the Metropolitan Police. She rose rapidly in the police. She became a Detective Constable soon after completing her probation, joined a fast track promotion scheme, and was promoted to Inspector in 1967. George Dowglas Halford (1865-27 August 1948) was the second Anglican Bishop of Rockhampton from 1909 until 1920. Early life Halford was educated at Felsted and Keble College, Oxford. George Britton Halford (26 November 1824 – 27 May 1910) was an English-born anatomist and physiologist, founder of the first medical school in Australia, University of Melbourne School of Medicine. Background Halford was born in Petworth, Sussex, England, second son of James Halford, a merchant of Haverstock Hill, and his wife Nancy, ''née'' Gadd. Halford began studying medicine in 1842, became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1851, and of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1852. He obtained his doctorate of medicine at University of St Andrews in 1854. After practising at Liverpool, he was in 1857 appointed lecturer in anatomy at the Grosvenor Place school of medicine, London. Gregory Halford (born 8 December 1984) is an English semi-professional and former professional footballer who plays for Isthmian League North Division club Hashtag United. He is naturally a right-back or centre-back but can play in numerous positions including central midfield, right midfield and even as a striker. Paul Halford is a former association football player who represented New Zealand at international level. He was a star player for Napier City Rovers, scoring a goal in their 1985 Chatham Cup final success, in the 1980s before joining the Brisbane Lions. He returned to Napier City Rovers in 1991 helping the club to more success. Halford made his All Whites debut on 9 June at Auckland, Mt Smart Stadium in an unofficial friendly against Glasgow Rangers.
