Halfdan W. Freihow
Halfdan Wexel Freihow (born 7 May 1959) is a Norwegian literary critic, novelist, editor and book publisher. A son of diplomat Håkon Wexelsen Freihow, Halfdan Freihow was born in Mexico City and grew up in Mexico, Spain and Belgium. He graduated from the University of Oslo with a cand.mag. degree. He was a translator, publishing house consultant and literary critic for '' Morgenbladet'', '' Arbeiderbladet'' and NRK P2 in his early career. In 1985, together with fellow literary critics André Savik and Lasse Tømte, he published an anthology named ''Ord for andre''. The proceeds would go via the Norwegian Church Aid and Norwegian Red Cross to Ethiopia. In 1989 he became editor-in-chief for the literature periodical '' Vinduet''. In 1990 he quit his literary critic job in ''Arbeiderbladet'' to become acting editor of Bokklubben Dagens Bok. In 1991 he went on to the publishing house Aschehoug. Håkon Wexelsen Freihow
Håkon Wexelsen Freihow (6 April 1927 – 1 March 2019) was a Norwegian diplomat. He graduated in political science from the University of Oslo in 1956, and started working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the same year. Early diplomatic posts include services at the embassy in Mexico, Spain and the NATO embassy in Belgium. He was an embassy councillor in Belgium from 1971, and a deputy under-secretary of state in 1979. He served as the Norwegian ambassador to Japan from 1981 to 1989 and Portugal from 1992 to 1995. As a side effect of the latter position, he was also the ambassador to Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau from 1993 and Morocco from 1994. From 1989 to 1992 he was a "general commissioner" for the Norwegian contribution to Seville Expo '92. It generated a lot of media coverage in the three years. ''Verdens Gang'' ("The course of the world"), generally known under the abbreviation ''VG'', is a Norwegian tabloid newspaper. In 2016, circulation numbers stood at 93,883, having declined from a peak circulation of 390,510 in 2002. Karmøy is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is southwest of the town of Haugesund in the traditional district of Haugaland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Kopervik. Most of the municipality lies on the island of Karmøy. The island is connected to the mainland by the Karmøy Tunnel and the Karmsund Bridge. It is known for its industries, as well as for fishing.
