Halfdan Sundt
Halfdan Sundt (12 August 1873 – 18 January 1951) was a Norwegian physician and politician. He was a president of the Norwegian Medical Association. Personal life He was born in Farsund as a son of consul Peter Ingvard Sundt (1841–1917) and his wife Anna Christiane Salvesen. He was a triplet brother of physician Vigleik Trygve Sundt. He was a grandnephew of Eilert Sundt, nephew of Lauritz Sundt, first cousin once removed of Karen and Einar Sundt, first cousin of Harald Sundt and third cousin of Arthur Sundt. In September 1903 in Eidsvoll he married merchant's daughter Rebekka Heitmann. Career He finished his secondary education in 1892, and graduated with the cand.med. degree in 1900. He was a municipal physician in Gol from 1903 to 1908, physician in Vadsø from 1908 to 1911, then from 1911 to 1943 chief physician in Stavern. Eidsvoll (; sometimes written as ''Eidsvold'') is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the Romerike traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Sundet. General information Etymology The first element is the genitive case of the word ''eid'' (Old Norse: ''eið'') and the last element is ''voll'' (Old Norse: ''vǫllr'') which means "meadow" or "field". The meaning of the word ''eid'' in this case is "a road passing around a waterfall". People from the districts around the lake ( Mjøsa) who were sailing down the river Vorma, and people from Romerike sailing up the same river, both had to enter this area by passing the Sundfossen waterfall. Stavern
Stavern is a small water-side town in Larvik municipality in Vestfold County, Norway. It is south of the city of Larvik. Currently there are around 3,000 inhabitants in Stavern. It is a small town where tourism is one of the most important sources of income. During summer, the population increases to around 30,000-40,000 people, due to camping sites and cottages around the town centre as well as boats visiting the harbour. Stavern experiences 200 days of sunshine per year. Consequentially, Stavern's population more than doubles during summers. From the mid 1750s until 1864, Stavern was home to the nation's main naval base located in a shipyard in Fredriksvern. A gunpowder tower and commandant's house remain on Citadel Island, a current refuge for artists. Gol, Norway
is a municipality in Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Hallingdal. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Gol which is also the population center. Gol was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area of Hemsedal was separated from Gol in 1897 to become a separate municipality.
