Hal Perry (politician)
John "Hal" Perry (born 18 November 1965) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 2011 provincial election. He represents the district of Tignish-Palmer Road as a member of the Liberal Party. He was originally elected as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, but left the Progressive Conservative Party and joined the Liberal Party on October 3, 2013. He was chosen as Opposition Leader on January 30, 2013, following the resignation of Olive Crane, but resigned from that position on February 11 after losing the race for the interim leadership of the Progressive Conservatives to Steven Myers. On May 21, 2015, Perry was appointed to the Executive Council of Prince Edward Island as Minister of Education, Early Learning and Culture, following Tina Mundy's resignation from cabinet. Legislative Assembly Of Prince Edward Island
The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (french: Assemblée législative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is the sole chamber of the General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The Legislative Assembly meets at Province House, which is located at the intersection of Richmond and Great George Streets in Charlottetown. An interim leader, in Canadian politics, is a party leader appointed by the party's legislative caucus or the party's executive to temporarily act as leader when a gap occurs between the resignation or death of a party leader and the election of their formal successor. Stanislaus Francis Perry
Stanislaus Francis Perry (May 7, 1823 – February 24, 1898) was a Canadian farmer and politician in Prince Edward Island. Early life He was born Stanislas-François Poirier in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, the son of Pierre Poirier and Marie-Blanche Gaudet. Poirier was educated in Tignish and then was educated in English at St. Andrew's College in Charlottetown. On his return to Tignish in 1843, he taught school. Poirier anglicized his name around this time. In 1847, he married Margaret Carroll. He was named a justice of the peace in 1851. Political career In 1854, Perry left teaching, began farming to support his family and entered politics. As an Acadian, he supported the redistribution of land on the island from the landowners to the tenant farmers. Martina "Tina" Mundy Marie (born 26 December 1964 in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador) is a Canadian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 2015 to 2019. Career Prior to her election to the legislature, Mundy worked as a development officer for Holland College's campus in Summerside, and served for four years as a city councillor for Summerside City Council. The Executive Council of Prince Edward Island (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Prince Edward Island) is the cabinet of that Canadian province. Almost always made up of members of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, the Cabinet is similar in structure and role to the Cabinet of Canada while being smaller in size. As federal and provincial responsibilities differ there are a number of different portfolios between the federal and provincial governments.
