Hal Kvisle
Harold "Hal" N. Kvisle (born Innisfail, Alberta, 1952) is a Canadian businessman in the petroleum industry. Career Kvisle received a bachelor of science in engineering with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1975 and an MBA from the University of Calgary in 1982. Kvisle joined Dome Petroleum in 1975 and eventually became finance manager. He played a key role in the sale of Dome Petroleum to Amoco Canada in 1987 and 1988. In 1988, he moved to Fletcher Challenge Energy, eventually becoming chief operating officer for South and Central America and president of Canadian operations. In 1999, Kvisle was recruited by TransCanada PipeLines to be its executive vice-president in trading and business development. In 2001, he was appointed president and chief executive officer. TransCanada Pipelines announced in April 2010 that Kvisle would retire at the end of June 2010; he was replaced by chief operating officer Russ Girling. Innisfail, Alberta
Innisfail ( ) is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, south of Red Deer, Alberta, Red Deer at the junction of Alberta Highway 2, Highway 2 and Alberta Highway 54, Highway 54. History The town's name comes from an Irish language, Irish-language epithet for Ireland, ''Inis Fáil'', "Isle of Destiny". Before this name was adopted, the town was often referred to as "Poplar Grove". Sandy Fraser, Napoleon Remillard, Arthur Content and Bill Kemp settled in the area from 1884 to 1887. These were Innisfail's first settlers. Dr. Henry George was an important physician and coroner for Calgary and Central Alberta. He settled in Innisfail and built a house he called "Lindum Lodge" (this is where the Dr. George/Kemp house is today). Mount Royal University (MRU) is a public university in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. History Mount Royal University was founded by Alberta provincial charter by the Arthur Sifton government on December 16, 1910 and officially opened on September 8, 1911. Originally "Mount Royal College", the institution was the brainchild of Calgary Reverend George W. Kerby (1860-1944) who sought an opportunity for higher education for the benefit of young people from rural homes in the area. The provincial charter as presented in the legislature by R. B.
