Haiyan County () is a county under the administration of Jiaxing City, in the north of Zhejiang province, China, situated on the north shore of Hangzhou Bay and includes the north end of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge. Ye Haiyan (born 1975) is a Chinese gender activist, best known for her action in favor of women, prostitutes, and children against violence and sexual aggression. She exposed the harsh conditions of local brothels, in which sex workers were sexually and physically abused. She is also well known by the name of Hooligan Sparrow (流氓燕). Activism In 2005, Ye created a website to support sex workers. Ye says this is her first encounter with feminism. Zhou Haiyan
Zhou Haiyan (; born 3 January 1990) is a Chinese track and field athlete who competes in middle-distance events. She holds personal bests of 2:03.00 and 4:13.32 minutes for the 800 metres and 1500 metres events, respectively. She was the champion in both races at the 2009 Asian Athletics Championships. Born in Liaoning, she first competed on the Chinese Athletics Grand Prix circuit at age sixteen and took wins over both 800 metres and 1500 metres in Guilin. She came first in the 800 m at the Chinese Olympic trials, but did attain the qualifying standard time for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ma Haiyan (1837–1900) was a Chinese Muslim general of the Qing Dynasty. Originally a rebel, he defected to Qing during the Dungan revolt and helped crush rebel Muslims. He was the father of Ma Qi and Ma Lin and of Ma Feng. Dong Fuxiang, Ma Anliang and Ma Haiyan were originally called to Beijing during the First Sino-Japanese War in 1894, but the Dungan Revolt (1895) broke out and they were subsequently sent to crush the rebels.
