''Hair of the Dog'' is a 1962 British comedy film directed by Terry Bishop and starring Reginald Beckwith, Dorinda Stevens and John Le Mesurier. Fred Tickle is commissionaire at a razor blade factory, and grows a beard after developing a shaving rash, but his new appearance doesn't go down well with management. Terry Bishop
Terry Bishop (21 October 1912 – 30 October 1981) was a British screenwriter, and television and film director. During the 1950s and 60s he worked extensively in British TV, directing episodes of series such as ''The Adventures of William Tell'', ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'', ''Sword of Freedom'', ''Danger Man'', and ''Sir Francis Drake''. He also made several low budget British films during this time, perhaps the best known of which is '' Cover Girl Killer'' (1959), featuring ''Steptoe and Son'' star Harry H. Corbett as a serial murderer of glamour models. Stanley Morgan (author)
Stanley Morgan (10 November 1929 – 24 August 2018) was an English writer and actor. He wrote fiction, in the comedy and thriller genres and had more than 40 books published between 1968 and 2006. Biography Originally an actor, Morgan had many jobs as a young man, including sewing machine salesman, debt collector and bank clerk. In 1951, Morgan emigrated to Canada where he spent some time working in the Bank of Nova Scotia. In 1955, he emigrated again, this time to Southern Rhodesia. He resumed his acting career there and was sponsored to return to London after winning a Best Actor award. Upon returning to London, Morgan featured mostly in voice-overs ("Mullardability" the documentary he voiced for Mullard was nominated for the Special Film BAFTA in 1970), although he did have a small role in the James Bond film '' Dr. No'' playing the Concierge in the casino who first introduces Sean Connery as James Bond. Douglas John Cardew Robinson (14 August 1917 – 28 December 1992) was a British comic, whose career was rooted in the music hall and Gang Shows. Early life and career Born in Goodmayes, Essex, Robinson was educated at Harrow County School for Boys. He enjoyed acting in school productions and loved the books of Frank Richards, featuring Billy Bunter of Greyfriars and the weekly magazine ''The Gem'' with the adventures of Ralph Reckness Cardew of St Jim's. In the early 1930s, while at Harrow County School, he wrote for the school magazine, the 'Gaytonian'. On leaving school, he took a job with a local newspaper, but it folded and he then joined Joe Boganny's touring Crazy College Boys, which opened at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, London. However, Robinson knew that he required a more traditional training and went into repertory theatre, where one of his roles was as the monster in an adaptation of ''Frankenstein''. Edward Malin
Edward Ernest Malin (23 October 1894 in Stoke Newington, London – 1 March 1977 in Ealing, London) was a British actor. He is perhaps most famous for portraying the mute and geriatric Walter in the sitcom ''Nearest and Dearest''. He also had a memorable role in ''A Night to Remember (1958 film), A Night to Remember'' (1958). He was the youngest of seven children of John Malin (1850–1921), a purse maker in a fancy leather works, and Martha ''née'' Hackworthy (1855–1905). In 1911 aged 16 he was working as a tracer in a boiler works. During World War I he served in the Royal Navy, and became a Freemasonry, Freemason in the Antioch Lodge No. 3271 in February 1918. Edward Malin died on 1 March 1977, aged 82 at the King Edward Memorial hospital in Ealing, London. He had been resident at the actors' retirement home of Denville Hall, Northwood, Middlesex, for several years. His funeral was held on 8 March 1977 at Golders Green Crematorium, London. Stanley Unwin (7 June 1911 – 12 January 2002), sometimes billed as Professor Stanley Unwin, was a British comic actor and writer. He invented his own comic language, "Unwinese", referred to in the film ''Carry On Regardless'' (1961) as "gobbledygook". Unwinese was a corrupted form of English in which many of the words were altered in playful and humorous ways, as in its description of Elvis Presley and his contemporaries as being "wasp-waist and swivel-hippy". Unwin claimed that the inspiration came from his mother, who once told him that on the way home she had "falolloped (fallen) over" and "grazed her kneeclabbers".
