Haina Occidental Port
The Haina Occidental Port (often referred to as "Rio Haina") is located in the Haina River, Dominican Republic near Santo Domingo. President Trujillo inaugurated Haina Occidental Port on 1953. Overview Haina Port has two terminals, which are located on either side of the Haina River. The older terminal is called Haina Occidental Terminal (which is the current name of the Port), and the newer terminal is named Haina Oriental Terminal. According to a statistical report submitted by Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) for January to June 2017, Multimodal Caucedo Port had 66.3% of TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) movement in the island, followed by Rio Haina Port with 27.4%, and the other ports in the Dominican Republic handling 6.1%. Haina River
The Haina River is a river of the Dominican Republic. It is located on the oriental limit of hydrographic district of Azua, Baní, and San Cristóbal. In 1496, according to Floyd, "Miguel Diaz and Francisco de Garay, working their way down the Haina river, discovered rich deposits of gold in the river sands perhaps twenty-five miles from the coast." Bartolome Colon built a fort along this river, "well situated within the gold region", which he named San Cristobal. Overview Haina River has a length of 86 km. It starts in Loma El Zumbador of Lomas de Maimón in the Central Mountainrange, Northwest of Villa Altagracia. Multimodal Caucedo Port
The Multimodal Caucedo Port is located in Caucedo, Boca Chica, Santo Domingo Province, Dominican Republic. This harbor is only used for cargo operations incoming from several countries in the Caribbean zone and is the youngest and the most modern port in the island. Caucedo is managed by DP World, a global port operator that was founded in 2005 by a merger of Dubai Ports Authority and Dubai Ports International. DP World Caucedo is a maritime terminal and global free zone located 25km away from Santo Domingo. In July 2017, DP World Caucedo confirmed they successfully received the largest ship that has ever visited the Dominican Republic.
