Hae Gon Lee
Lee Hae-gon (, born 8 October 1953) is a South Korean retired para table tennis player. He has medalled at every Paralympic Games from 1988 to 2008, for a total of seven gold, one silver, and four bronze medals. Lee, the seventh of eight children in a poor family, enlisted in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps in 1971. The Marine Corps had created a special force to infiltrate North Korea following the Blue House raid, and Lee and other recruits underwent harsh training in Manisan. A spinal cord injury (SCI) is damage to the spinal cord that causes temporary or permanent changes in its function. Symptoms may include loss of muscle function, sensation, or autonomic function in the parts of the body served by the spinal cord below the level of the injury. Injury can occur at any level of the spinal cord and can be ''complete'', with a total loss of sensation and muscle function at lower sacral segments, or ''incomplete'', meaning some nervous signals are able to travel past the injured area of the cord up to the Sacral S4-5 spinal cord segments. Depending on the location and severity of damage, the symptoms vary, from numbness to paralysis, including bowel or bladder incontinence. 2002 FESPIC Games
The 2002 FESPIC Games, officially known as the 8th FESPIC Games, was an Asia-Pacific disabled multi-sport event held in Busan, South Korea from 26 October to 1 November 2002, 12 days after the 2002 Asian Games. It was one of the two FESPIC Games to have held at the same host city as the 2002 Asian Games, Asian Games, the other being the 1999 FESPIC Games in Bangkok, Thailand. It was the first time South Korea hosted the games as it is the seventh FESPIC organisation member to host the FESPIC games after Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China, Thailand. 2006 FESPIC Games
The 2006 FESPIC Games, officially known as the 9th and Final FESPIC Games, was an Asia-Pacific disabled multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 25 November to 1 December 2006. This was the first and last time Malaysia hosted the games. Malaysia is the eighth and the last FESPIC organisation member to host the FESPIC games after Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China, Thailand, and South Korea. Around 3,641 athletes from 46 nations competed at the games which featured 19 sports. The games was opened by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the KLFA stadium. FESPIC Games
The FESPIC Games or the Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled, was a multi-sport event in Asia and the South Pacific region which is considered to be a precursor to the Asian Para Games, as two of its edition games in 1999 (7th) and 2002 (8th) were held parallel to the 1998 Asian Games and the 2002 Asian Games. The event which started in 1975 was held nine times, and last contested in December 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
