Hadzhidimovo
Hadzhidimovo ( bg, Хаджидимово ) is a small town and the centre of Hadzhidimovo Municipality in Blagoevgrad Province, south-western Bulgaria. It is located in the southernmost part of Bulgaria, bordering on Greece in the Chech region. Geography The town lies in the Mesta River valley, surrounded by the heights of Rila, Pirin, Slavyanka, Shilka, Bozdag, and the Western Rhodopes Mountains. Although the town is located in a Mediterranean climate region, temperatures quite often fall below 0° in winter, and the summers are hot with temperatures sometimes reaching 45° Celsius. History Hadzhidimovo was formed through the merger of the villages of Gorna Singartia and Dolna Singartia. Hadzhidimovo Municipality
Hadzhidimovo Municipality ( bg, Община Хаджидимово, ) is situated in the southeastern part of Blagoevgrad Province in southwestern Bulgaria. The administrative center is the town of Hadzhidimovo, located in the northern part of the municipality. To the South Hadzhidimovo Municipality is bordering with the Greece, Greek municipality Kato Nevrokopi. Four Bulgarian municipalities are surrounding it: to the East is Satovcha Municipality, to the North are Garmen Municipality, Garmen and Gotse Delchev Municipality, Gotse Delchev municipalities and to the west is Sandanski Municipality. Koprivlen
Koprivlen is a village in Hadzhidimovo Municipality, in Blagoevgrad Province, Bulgaria. Geography The village of Koprivlen is located at the foot of the eastern slopes of the Pirin mountains, in the southwestern part of the Republic of Bulgaria, 7 km south of the town of Gotse Delchev. To the northeast the land of the village reaches the Mesta riverbed, to the southeast it borders the lands of the village of Sadovo and the town of Hadzhidimovo, to the southwest with the land of the former Greek Muslim village of Lyalevo, and to the north with the villages of Novo Leski and Musomishta. Gaytaninovo
Gaytaninovo is a village in Hadzhidimovo Municipality, in Blagoevgrad Province, Bulgaria. Geography The village of Gaytaninovo is located in a mountainous area. It is situated on the southeastern slopes of Southern Pirin in the historical and geographical area of Mervashko. The village is 17 km southwest of the Hadzhidimovo municipal center and 19 km south of Gotse Delchev. The climate is transitional Mediterranean with mountain influence with summer minimum and winter maximum of rainfalls. The average annual rainfall is about 750 mm. The river Mutnitsa runs through the village. The soils are humus-carbonate. In 2012 on the territory of Gaitaninovo a protected area named "Zhingov bryast" was declared for protection of rare plants. Chech ( bg, Чеч, el, Τσέτσι) or Chechko ( bg, Чечко) is a geographical and historical region of the Balkan peninsula in southeastern Europe in modern-day Bulgaria and Greece. It consists of about 60 settlements and was traditionally mostly Pomak with an Orthodox Greek and Bulgarian minorities. The Chech region is situated on the border of the much larger regions of Macedonia and Thrace. It covers the western Rhodope Mountains and the northern slopes of Falakro ( bg, Боздаг, ''Bozdag''). Nestos ( ), Mesta ( ), or formerly the Mesta Karasu in Turkish (Karasu meaning "black river"), is a river in Bulgaria and Greece. Dimo Hadzhidimov
Dimo Hadzhidimov ( bg, Димо Хаджидимов; 19 February 1875 – 13 September 1924) was a 20th-century Bulgarian teacher, revolutionary and politician from Ottoman Macedonia. He was among the leaders of the left wing of Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), which he considered a Bulgarian creation. Life Hadzhidimov was born on 19 February 1875 in Gorno Brodi, Ottoman Empire, now located in Serres regional unit, Greece. In 1880 his family emigrated from the Ottoman Empire and settled in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria. He studied pedagogy in Kyustendil and then in Sofia. At that time he was a member of the Bulgarian Workers' Social Democratic Party. After that he worked as a teacher in the Bulgarian schools in Dupnitsa and later in Samokov. He also participated in Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising. Konstantin Zhostov
Konstantin Andonov Zhostov ( bg, Константин Андонов Жостов) (30 September 1867 – 30 August 1916) was a Bulgarian general and Chief of the Bulgarian Army Staff. Biography Konstantin Zhostov was born in the village of Gaytaninovo, at the time part of the Ottoman Empire. He was the son of Andon Zhostov, a teacher and a significant figure in the struggle for the autonomy of the Bulgarian Church. Konstantin was not the only child in the family as he had two brothers. After the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) the family settled in Sofia and Andon became a priest. During the Serbo-Bulgarian War Konstantin was a student in Lom and took part in the Battle of Pirot between 14 and 15 November 1885 as a volunteer in the Student's Legion. After the war, he graduated from the High School and Lom and continued his education in the Artillery Department of the Military School in Sofia.
