Hadley Mountain Fire Observation Station
The Hadley Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic fire observation station located on Hadley Mountain at Hadley in Saratoga County, New York. The tower is a prefabricated structure built by the Aermotor Corporation in 1917. It is one of the initial ten towers purchased by the State Commission to provide a front line of defense in preserving the Adirondack Forest Preserve New York's Forest Preserve, comprises almost all the lands owned by the state of New York within the Adirondack and Catskill parks. Hadley (, ) is a town in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,971 at the 2000 census. The town was named after Hadley, Massachusetts. The Town of Hadley is in the northern part of the county and is west of Glens Falls. History The first settler arrived around 1788. The town was formed from parts of the Towns of Greenfield and Northumberland in 1801. The Town of Corinth was taken from Hadley in 1818, and the Town of Day was removed in 1819, bringing the Town of Hadley to its current dimensions. In 1930, the Conklingville Dam by the west town line helped create the Sacandaga Reservoir and controlled flooding. A fire lookout tower, fire tower or lookout tower, provides housing and protection for a person known as a "fire lookout" whose duty it is to search for wildfires in the wilderness. It is a small building, usually on the summit of a mountain or other high vantage point, to maximize viewing distance and range, known as ''view shed''. Hadley Mountain
Hadley Mountain is a mountain located in the southern Adirondacks in the U.S. state of New York and is the second-highest peak in Saratoga County after neighboring Tenant Mountain. New York's Forest Preserve, comprises almost all the lands owned by the state of New York within the Adirondack and Catskill parks.
