Haakon W. Tranberg
Haakon Werner Tranberg (2 March 1917 – 24 April 1991) was a Norwegian sprinter who specialized in the 100 and 200 metres. He represented Kristiansands IF. He won silver medals in 100 m and 200 m at the 1946 European Championships. He never participated in the Summer Olympics. He became Norwegian champion in 100 m in 1939, 1946 and 1947, in 200 m in 1939 and 1946 and in long jump in 1946 and 1947. Bislett Stadion
Bislett Stadium ( no, Bislett stadion) is a sports stadium in Oslo, Norway. Bislett is Norway's most well known sports arena internationally, with 15 speed skating world records and more than 50 track and field world records having been set here. The original stadium was demolished in 2004 and construction of a new stadium was completed by the summer of 2005. The New Bislett Stadium was designed by C.F. Møller Architects. History Bislett Stadium lies on the site of a 19th-century brick works, which was bought by the Municipality of Kristiania (Oslo) in 1898, and turned into a sports field in 1908. The merchant, speed skater, gymnast and sports organizer Martinus Lørdahl was instrumental in facilitating the construction of the first bleachers, begun in 1917 and completed in 1922 along with the new club house. Grini is a district in northeastern Bærum, Norway. Concentration camp The name Grini is best known from the concentration camp of the same name, but this camp lay further west and had no actual connection to the Grini area. History The name Grini is a variant of ''Granvin'' ( a placename used elsewhere), and stems from spruce trees in the area. The Old Norse form was Grǫnin. The farm Grini is known at least since 1348, when it was parted into a northern and a southern part. Both farms belonged to the Church of Norway, but the crown usurped the property following the Protestant Reformation. The dwelling house was erected in 1658, three years before the property was sold from the crown to a private person. Between the mid-seventeenth century and the mid-nineteenth century the property was owned by the Leuch, Anker and Wedel-Jarlsberg families. The 100 metres, or 100-meter dash, is a sprint race in track and field competitions. The shortest common outdoor running distance, the dash is one of the most popular and prestigious events in the sport of athletics. It has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1928 for women. The inaugural World Championships were in 1983. The reigning 100 m Olympic or world champion is often named "the fastest man or woman in the world". Arkivet (meaning ''the Archive'') is the established name of Vesterveien 4 in Kristiansand, Norway. The building was constructed in 1935 for the Regional State Archives in Kristiansand, Archival Services in Kristiansand, and in the periods 1935–1940 and 1945–1997 used by this institution. Nevertheless, the building is known as the headquarters of the Gestapo in Sørlandet, southern Norway in the period 1942–1945. The building is owned and operated by the foundation ''Stiftelsen Arkivet''. Arikivet is located in the residential area of Bellevue overlooking the western harbor of Kristiansand. The building in the Functionalism (architecture), functionalist style was completed in 1935, and was 8 March of that year officially adopted by the local department of the National Archives.
