Haacht
Haacht () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Haacht proper, Kelfs, Tildonk, Wakkerzeel and Wespelaar. On January 1, 2020, Haacht had a total population of 14,858. The total area is 30.57 km2 which gives a population density of 483 inhabitants per km2. Attractions Special attractions in Haacht are: * The church St.-Remigius, of which some walls still date the original construction from the year 1281. * The Anti-Tank canal, a defensive line built in 1939 as part of the K-W Line, to protect against German attack. It proved ineffective, as the invading Germans took a wide detour around it. K-W Line
The Koningshooikt—Wavre Line, abbreviated to KW Line (french: Ligne KW; nl, KW-stelling) and often known as the Dyle Line after the Dijle, Dijle (Dyle) river, was a -long fortified line of defence prepared by the Belgian Army between Koningshooikt (Province of Antwerp) and Wavre (Province of Brabant) which was intended to protect Brussels from a possible German invasion. Construction on the KW Line began in September 1939 after World War II had begun but while Belgium itself remained a neutral state. It was subsequently extended southwards from Wavre towards Namur (Province of Namur). The line itself consisted of bunkers, anti-tank ditches, and barricades including so-called Cointet-elements and played a key role in Allied strategy during the Battle of Belgium, German invasion of Belgium in May 1940. Tildonk
Tildonk is a village located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Flemish Brabant and, since 1977, is part of the Municipalities of Belgium, municipality of Haacht, together with Wespelaar, Wakkerzeel and Kelfs. It has a total area of 7.31 km². History Traces of civilization have been found from the period of around 3000 BCE between the hamlet Hambos and adjacent Kelfs. Later there was a Gaul, Gallic settlement at about the same location. The oldest mention of Tildonk occurred in 1107 in the family name of Reinerus de ''Thieldunck''. The name ''Tildonk'' is the joining of 2 medieval words: ''til'' (forest) and ''donk'' (elevation). Rotselaar () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish-Brabant, near the convergence of the Demer and the Dijle. Since January 1, 1977 the municipality comprises the towns of Rotselaar proper, Werchter and Wezemaal. On January 1, 2006, Rotselaar had a total population of 15,068. The total area is 37.57 km² which gives a population density of 401 inhabitants per km². Tremelo () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant, in Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Baal and Tremelo proper. On January 1, 2006, Tremelo had a total population of 13,725. The total area is 21.57 km² (5330 acres) which gives a population density of 636 inhabitants per km² (1647 per sq. mi.).
