HZ Zian
Haagse Zwem Zian ( in English: ''Hague's swimming (club) Zian'') or shortly Zian is a swimming and water polo club from The Hague, Netherlands. The association organizes swimming lessons and also has sections for the competition in sports like water polo, diving and swimming competition. History HZ Zian emerged from HZ&PC and Zian / Vitesse. Hague Swimming and Polo Club (HZ&PC) was established in November 29, 1911. Zian / Vitesse was founded on October 4, 1922. In the past, there are several Dutch Championships achieved. HZ Zian participates in the Dutch national league. The greatest moment in the history of the club is the participation in the 1976-77 European champions cup final where Zian defeated by the Soviet giant CSKA Moscow with a 7-5 score. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. LEN Champions League
The LEN Champions League is the top-tier European professional water polo club competition with teams from up to 18 countries. It is organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation. The competition started in 1963 as European Cup. A change of name and format occurred in 1996, with the competition being renamed Champions League and the final four system being established as the format of choice, for the first time during the 1996–97 LEN Champions League. From 2003 to 2011 the competition was named LEN Euroleague (with the change of name being simply a re-branding) and from 2011 and on LEN Champions League, its current name.
