Hexamethylenetetramine
Hexamethylenetetramine, also known as methenamine, hexamine, or urotropin, is a heterocyclic organic compound with the formula (CH2)6N4. This white crystalline compound is highly soluble in water and polar organic solvents. It has a cage-like structure similar to adamantane. It is useful in the synthesis of other organic compounds, including plastics, pharmaceuticals, and rubber additives. It sublimes in vacuum at 280 °C. Synthesis, structure, reactivity Hexamethylenetetramine was discovered by Aleksandr Butlerov in 1859. In this article, Butlerov discovered formaldehyde, which he called "dioxymethylen" (methylene dioxide) age 247because his empirical formula for it was incorrect (C4H4O4). On pages 249–250, he describes treating formaldehyde with ammonia gas, creating hexamine. It is prepared industrially by combining formaldehyde and ammonia: : The reaction can be conducted in gas phase and in solution. The molecule has a tetrahedral cage-like structure, similar t ...

Histamine N-methyltransferase
Histamine ''N''-methyltransferase (HNMT, HMT) is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of histamine. It is one of two enzymes involved in the metabolism of histamine in mammals, the other being diamine oxidase (DAO). HNMT catalyzes the methylation of histamine in the presence of ''S''-adenosylmethionine (SAM-e) forming ''N''-methylhistamine. The HNMT enzyme is present in most body tissues but is not present in serum. Histamine ''N''-methyltransferase is encoded by a single gene, ''HNMT'', which in humans has been mapped to chromosome 2. Function The function of the HNMT enzyme is histamine metabolism by ways of ''Nτ''-methylation using SAM-e as the methyl donor, producing ''N''-methylhistamine, which, unless excreted, can be further processed by monoamine oxidase B (MAOB) or by DAO. Methylated histamine metabolites are excreted with urine. In mammals, histamine is metabolized by two major pathways: oxidative deamination via DAO, encoded by the ''AOC1'' gene, and ''Nτ''-methyla ...

Histone Methyltransferase
Histone methyltransferases (HMT) are histone-modifying enzymes (e.g., histone-lysine N-methyltransferases and histone-arginine N-methyltransferases), that catalyze the transfer of one, two, or three methyl groups to lysine and arginine residues of histone proteins. The attachment of methyl groups occurs predominantly at specific lysine or arginine residues on histones H3 and H4. Two major types of histone methyltranferases exist, lysine-specific (which can be SET (Su(var)3-9, Enhancer of Zeste, Trithorax) domain containing or non-SET domain containing) and arginine-specific. In both types of histone methyltransferases, S-Adenosyl methionine (SAM) serves as a cofactor and methyl donor group. The genomic DNA of eukaryotes associates with histones to form chromatin. The level of chromatin compaction depends heavily on histone methylation and other post-translational modifications of histones. Histone methylation is a principal epigenetic modification of chromatin that determines ge ...

Host Modulatory Therapy
Host modulatory therapy is an emerging treatment concept in the management of periodontitis that aims to reduce tissue destruction and stabilise or even regenerate the periodontium by modifying the host response. Historically treatment of periodontitis has been focused on reducing the bacterial challenge. However the outcomes of the conventional treatment procedures like scaling and root planning (SRP) are not always stable or predictable. Periodontal disease is seen as a balance between (1) a persisting bacterial challenge and the proinflammatory destructive events in the tissue and (2) resolution of inflammation and downregulation of destructive processes. The goal is to maximize treatment response by reducing inflammation and inhibiting destructive processes in the tissues which will result in enhanced periodontal stability after conventional periodontal treatments like SRP. Host modulatory therapy is a means of treating the host's side of the host-bacteria interaction. Agent ...

Ham Street Railway Station
Ham Street railway station is a Grade II listed stop on the Marshlink line in the village of Hamstreet, Kent, between and . Services are provided by Southern. Location The station is on a dual-track section of the unelectrified Marshlink Line. Train services are provided by Southern and operated by Class 171 Turbostar diesel trains. The booking office - open on Mondays to Saturdays mornings - is located in the main station building on the Ashford-bound platform. The two PERTIS passenger-operated self-service ticket machines - one on each platform - have now been removed and replaced with Ticket Vending machines on each platform, which allows a ticket to be purchased from any origin, as opposed to just from Ham Street. The PERTIS passenger-operated self-service machines were installed in connection with a Penalty Fares Scheme in 2008. History The station was built by the South Eastern Railway as one of four original stops on the line from Ashford to Hastings (the others bei ...

Hang Mei Tsuen () is an MTR Light Rail stop. It is located at ground level at Ping Ha Road near Hang Mei Tsuen in Ping Shan, Yuen Long District. It began service on 10 January 1993 and belongs to Zone 4. The station, named after the nearby rural village of Hang Mei Tsuen, is utilised by some passengers as an interchange between routes 751 and 761P. History The station opened on 10 January 1993 as part of the 2.7-km Tin Shui Wai Extension project, built by KCR to serve the developing Tin Shui Wai New Town. It was initially served by Route 721 from Tin Shui Wai to Yuen Long. Two months later, on 27 March 1993, an additional service (route 722) commenced between Tin Shui Wai and Siu Hong stop. Route 722 (to Siu Hong) was replaced with route 720 (to Yau Oi), which in turn was replaced with route 751 in December 2003. At the same time, Route 721 was replaced with route 761. The December 2003 changes were made due to the commissioning of the West Rail project. There was an accident ...

Ship Prefix
A ship prefix is a combination of letters, usually abbreviations, used in front of the name of a civilian or naval ship that has historically served numerous purposes, such as identifying the vessel's mode of propulsion, purpose, or ownership/nationality. In the modern environment, prefixes are cited inconsistently in civilian service, whereas in government service a vessel's prefix is seldom omitted due to government regulations dictating that a certain prefix be used. Today the common practice is to use a single prefix for all warships of a nation's navy, and other prefixes for auxiliaries and ships of allied services, such as coast guards. For example, the modern navy of Japan adopts the prefix "JS" – Japanese Ship. However, not all navies use prefixes. Among the Blue-water navy, blue-water navies, those of France, Brazil, China, Russia, Germany, and Spain do not use ship prefixes. NATO designations such as FS (French Ship), FGS (Federal German Ship), and SPS (Spanish Ship) ...
