Ophelia () is a character in William Shakespeare's drama ''Hamlet'' (1599–1601). Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Company was a British engineering company based on the River Tyne at Wallsend, North East England. Laying the keel or laying down is the formal recognition of the start of a ship's construction.
