HFF Munich
The University of Television and Film Munich (German: Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München, short: HFF Munich) is a publicly funded film school in Munich, Germany. The school was established in 1966 by decree of the Bavarian government. The University of Television and Film Munich is one of Germany's most reputable film schools with about 350 students enrolled. Academics The teacher to student ratio is about 1:9, the staff to student ratio is approximately 1:4. Katja Von Garnier
Katja von Garnier (born 15 December 1966, in Wiesbaden) is a German film director. Biography From 1989 to 1994, she studied at the University of Television and Film Munich. Her 1993 practice film '' Making Up!'' was shown in theatres all over Germany and attracted 1.2 million visitors. The project had been rejected by several producers who had not believed that a one-hour film could become a commercial success. The 1997 film ''Bandits'' starring Katja Riemann was also a commercial success and was the winner of the Grand Prize at the 10th Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival held in February 1999. In 1999, she was a member of the jury at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2002, she directed in the United States for the first time. Buena Vista Social Club
Buena Vista Social Club is an ensemble of Cuban musicians established in 1996. The project was organized by World Circuit executive Nick Gold, produced by American guitarist Ry Cooder and directed by Juan de Marcos González. They named the group after the homonymous members' club in the Buenavista quarter of Havana, a popular music venue in the 1940s. To showcase the popular styles of the time, such as son, bolero and danzón, they recruited a dozen veteran musicians, some of whom had been retired for many years. The group's eponymous album was recorded in March 1996 and released in September 1997, quickly becoming an international success, which prompted the ensemble to perform with a full line-up in Amsterdam and New York in 1998. Sönke Wortmann
Sönke Wortmann (; 25 August 1959 in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German film director and producer. Biography Wortmann's father was a miner. After Wortmann's A-Levels he wanted to become a professional football player and started playing with Westfalia Herne and later SpVgg Erkenschwick in the German 3rd division. After three years he gave up the idea of becoming a professional football player. One semester he studied sociology before entering the University of Television and Film Munich to study film directing. After spending some time at the London Royal College of Art he finished his career successfully. Till Schauder
Till Schauder (born 1971), is a German-born American filmmaker, film director, screenplay writer, film producer, actor and film instructor. He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and co-producer, Sara Nodjoumi. Early life Schauder was born in Seattle, Washington to German parents. He moved back to Germany at age 2 and grew up in Göttingen, attending elementary, primary and high school. Caroline Link (born 2 June 1964) is a German film director and screenwriter. Life and work Caroline Link is the daughter of Jürgen and Ilse Link. From 1986 to 1990 she studied at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), and then worked as an assistant director and script writer. Link's early work includes the short film ''Bunte Blumen'', from 1988. She was a co-director on the documentary film ''Das Glück zum Anfassen'' (1989).
