HD 148427
HD 148427, formally named Timir, is a 7th-apparent magnitude, magnitude K-type star, K-type subgiant star, subgiant star approximately 193 light years away in the constellation Ophiuchus. Its mass is 45% greater than the Sun, and it is three times the size and six times more luminous, although its age is 2½ billion years. In August 2009, it was found to have a companion in orbit (HD 148427 b or Tondra) with a minimum mass of and an orbital period of 331.5 days. In 2020, this object's inclination was measured, revealing its true mass to be . This makes it a low-mass red dwarf star. HD 148427, and HD 148427 b (thought at the time to be an exoplanet), were chosen as part of the 2019 NameExoWorlds campaign organised by the International Astronomical Union, which assigned each country a star and planet to be named. ''Red Dwarf'' is a British science fiction comedy franchise created by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, which primarily consists of a television sitcom that aired on BBC Two between 1988 and 1999, and on Dave since 2009, gaining a cult following.
