Hokejsko drsalni klub Maribor or simply HDK Maribor, also named Lisjaki ( en, The Foxes), is an ice hockey club from Maribor, Slovenia. Established in 1993, they play their home matches at the Tabor Ice Hall. Maribor
Maribor ( , , , ; also known by other #Name, historical names) is the second-largest city in Slovenia and the largest city of the traditional region of Styria (Slovenia), Lower Styria. It is also the seat of the City Municipality of Maribor, the seat of the Drava Statistical Region, Drava statistical region and the Eastern Slovenia region. Slovenian Ice Hockey League
The Slovenian Hockey League is the highest level ice hockey league in Slovenia. The championship phase is contested after the regular season to determine the national champion. History The Slovenian Hockey League was firstly contested in the 1991–92 season, with the championship being held at the end as the play-offs. Over time, some Slovenian teams entered the Austrian Hockey League, and joined only for the play-offs. In the 2007–08 season there was an issue, as the Croatian team Medveščak qualified for the play-offs. As the Slovenian Champion could only be a team from Slovenia, they did not take part in the play-offs. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Slohokej League
The Slohokej League (''Slohokej Liga'') was a multinational ice hockey league in Europe. The competition was made up from teams from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Austria. A few teams in the league were the farm teams for clubs that played in the EBEL – Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (Jesenice and Olimpija). Other Slovenian teams used the league for future development of young Slovenian players and had the majority of their team rosters made up from players of the age of 21 and younger. 2009–10 Slohokej League Season
The 2009–10 Slohokej League season was the first season of the Slohokej League. The competition was made up of six teams from Slovenia, two teams from Croatia, and one team from Austria and Serbia each. The season was composed of the regular season and the playoffs. In the regular season, each team played triple round-robin with 27 games. The best eight teams of the regular season advanced to the playoffs. Maribor became the first champions on 2 March 2009. Jan Muršak
Jan Muršak (born 20 January 1988) is a professional Slovenian ice hockey player for Frölunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Muršak first played hockey in Slovenia as a member of HDK Maribor before he left to spend one season in the Czech junior league. He was then selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and moved to the major junior Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and played for two teams, the Saginaw Spirit and Belleville Bulls. After finishing his junior career Muršak then joined the Red Wings American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2008. Playing career European career and juniors Muršak developed his skills in his hometown ice hockey club HDK Maribor where he played until the age of 17.
