HC Ambrì-Piotta
Hockey Club Ambrì-Piotta is a Switzerland, Swiss professional ice hockey club and a member of the National League (ice hockey), National League (NL). The club was founded September 19, 1937, and is also known as "Bianco-Blu" (English: white and blues). Though they have never won the league championship, the club has not been relegated to the Swiss League since being promoted in 1985, the same year that saw the arrival of Dale McCourt. The team plays its home games in the 7,000-seat Nuova Valascia. History Ambrì and Piotta, Switzerland, Piotta are two small villages in the municipality of Quinto, Switzerland, Quinto, located in the northern part of the valley Leventina canton Ticino, with a combined population of 500 people. Ambrì
Ambrì is a Swiss village in the municipality of Quinto, Leventina District, Canton of Ticino. Geography Ambrì is located in the Leventina Valley, upon the southwestern shore of Ticino river and below the Lepontine Alps, next to the neighboring village of Piotta. Other villages close to Ambrì are Rodi and Fiesso. It is 2 km far from Quinto, 7 from Airolo and 50 from Bellinzona. Sports The village is known throughout Switzerland for being home to National League (NL) team HC Ambrì-Piotta, that plays in the 6,500-seat Valascia, but is set to move into a new arena by 2021. Ambrì is also a popular area for hiking. Transport Ambrì also has its own airport, Ambrì Airport. The airport was a military one until 1994. Now it hosts events, flight school and more. Kim Johnsson
Kim Emil Jörgen Johnsson (born March 16, 1976) is a Sweden, Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman who played ten seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks. He played six seasons for the Malmö Redhawks in the Swedish Swedish Hockey League, Elitserien prior to his NHL career. Playing career Johnsson was selected 286th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, the last pick in that draft. After playing two seasons with the Rangers, he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers on August 20, 2001, along with Jan Hlaváč, Pavel Brendl, and a 3rd-round pick in exchange for Eric Lindros. After four seasons with the Flyers, Johnsson signed a four-year contract with the Minnesota Wild on July 1, 2006. Pauli Jaks
Pauli Jaks (born January 25, 1972) is a Swiss former professional ice hockey goaltender who played one game in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings during the 1994–95 NHL season. Biography Jaks played in the 1985 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a Swiss-Italian youth team. Jaks was selected in the 5th round (108th overall) in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. Jaks was the first Swiss-trained player to appear in the NHL. Jaks also played in the IHL for the Phoenix Roadrunners, but he is best known for his play in the Switzerland National League A. He was named best goaltender at the 1991 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and was also named to the tournament all-star team. Hnat A. Domenichelli (born February 16, 1976) is a Canadian-Swiss former professional ice hockey player of Ukrainian descent. He was drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the fourth round, 83rd overall, of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He played 267 National Hockey League (NHL) games for the Whalers, Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers and Minnesota Wild between 1996 and 2003 before moving to Switzerland where he has played for the remainder of his career in the National League A. Andrew James Bathgate (August 28, 1932 – February 26, 2016) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right wing who played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins between 1952 and 1971. In 2017 Bathgate was named one of the " 100 Greatest NHL Players" in history.
