Dr. H. Siegrist (born in 1869) was a Swiss footballer who played in the 1890s. The first football match that the club held was in the Landhof on 10 December against the football team of the club RTV/Realschüler-Turnverein, a secondary school student gymnastics club. Siegrist played in this match. He scored his first goal for the club in the same game, the second goal of the match, as Basel won by two goals to nil. FC Basel was started by an advertisement placed by Roland Geldner in the 12 November 1893 edition of the Basler ''national newspaper'', requesting that a football team be formed and that anyone who wished to join should meet up the following Wednesday at 8:15 in the restaurant Schuhmachern-Zunft. The Landhof was a sports stadium in the district Basel-Wettstein in Kleinbasel, Basel. It was the former and first home stadium of FC Basel. It is mentioned for the first time in a chronicle in the second half of the 18th century as a ''nice summer house with beautiful property''. The best known owner of the manor was , a member of the Merian family. He was Mayor of Basel and Landammann of Switzerland (highest office at the time). In 1892 the granddaughter of Merian-Iselin sold the Landhof to a certain Katharina Ehrler-Wittich.
