H. A. Silva
Vice Admiral Hikkaduwage Ananda Silva, VSV (4 January 1936- 24 November 1999) was a senior Sri Lankan naval officer who was the 11th Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy. Education Educated at S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, Silva excelled in sports and studies. He won several prizes and won colours for cricket, athletics, boxing and also was the Vice Captain of the College Boxing Team. His brother was Major General Gratian Silva. Naval career Silva joined the then Royal Ceylon Navy as an officer cadet on 12 October 1953 at the age of 17. He was selected for officer training at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and graduate in 1956 at the top of his batch. Subsequently as an acting sub lieutenant, he completed the Junior Naval Officers (Lieutenants) Course at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich and attended HMS Mercury and the Royal Naval Engineering College for specialist training. HMS Triumph (R16)
HMS ''Triumph'' was a Royal Navy light fleet aircraft carrier. She served in the Korean War and later, after reconstruction, as a support ship. Construction and commission ''Triumph'' was laid down during World War II on 27 January 1943 at Hawthorn Leslie and Company on the Tyne. Her construction was relatively rapid and she was launched on 2 October 1944 only a few months from the end of the war. She was commissioned into the Royal Navy on 6 May 1946.Chesneau 1998, p.129. Commodore (rank)
Commodore is a senior naval rank used in many navies which is equivalent to brigadier and air commodore. It is superior to a navy captain, but below a rear admiral. It is either regarded as the most junior of the flag officers rank or may not hold the jurisdiction of a flag officer at all depending on the officer's appointment. Non-English-speaking nations commonly use the rank of flotilla admiral, counter admiral, or senior captain as an equivalent, although counter admiral may also correspond to ''rear admiral lower half'' abbreviated as RDML. SLNS ''Gajabahu'' (named after '' Gajabahu'', a former king of Sri Lanka) was a of the Sri Lanka Navy. She has since been converted to a training ship for the Naval & Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. She was originally HMCS ''Hallowell'' of the Royal Canadian Navy, built during the Second World War and then saw service as INS ''Miznak'' of the Israeli Navy. Wellington Cantonment
Wellington is a cantonment town in the Coonoor sub-Division of Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu. One of its most famous residents was Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who died in the town on June 27, 2008. This town is adjacent to the city of Coonoor. Its Postal Index Number is 643231. Lieutenant Commander
